djyamyam, my timeshare exchanging idol, inspired me to try II with my Texas timeshare in the middle of nowhere. I can't even look for any exchanges until they verify my ownership so nobody's allowed to take anything good out until I get a shot!

Such high expectations! I hope I haven't lead you astray I have been pleasantly surprised what I have been able to book with that resort.

Hey, look at it this way. Anything's got to be better than a Texas timeshare in the middle of nowhere...

Good point, but II's up against what I have been getting from HTSE for this unit and that ain't too shabby!

Well, I gotta say I am disappointed. I can't see any of the 2010 exops that have been posted recently. I have not deposited so I don't know if that is affecting me or if I just don't have a good trading week (#26, 2010). I am comparing 10/1/2009 thru 11/1/2009 in all of Florida and in all of California against a week 28 studio at the Flagship and I am getting trounced. Flag pulls 92 Florida weeks and 26 Cali's against my 60 Florida's and 8 Cali's. Arrgghhhhh!

I have found that I don't necessarily "see" a lot online with my Inverness week. However, if I know it is there based on ex-ops or what my other deposits see, I put in an ongoing request and it gets matched up (not always and not necessarily right away). That's how I got most of the "big exchanges" I got with this week.

                Sounds like a plan, thanks.

is your week a red week?

                  and

do they offer you the AC for depositing?

Inverness has been good to us....both in II and the bonus week we get from them in RCI

though we have not tried ongoing searches with them yet

I have the same week 26 as Philsfan. Traditionally, I have gotten an AC from II but have not had an offer this year and not sure I will as it seems II has cut back significantly on ACs for a lot of deposits. I haven't deposited this week with RCI for some time.

Please keep in mind that most of the sightings u see by our most prolific poster are using 5* weeks such as Marriott or Sheratin/Westin and can be under resort group preferences in II - meaning you won't get it for a while. Ans there is definitely a difference with what a 5* and a standard resort will see.
I also agree about putting in an ongoing search to get those more difficult trades - remember with II, what u are 'seeing' when u search are the leftovers no one has a search/request in for.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

                          Exactly!

It's key to have an ongoing request in as early as possible......Whether a resort is under preference or not, as soon as they either become available to all, or weeks with a higher trade capability have been satisfied, those next in line will get their request filled.

Good luck, and don't despair. I'd put in a request for a number of different options with the week, and mostly likely, something good will come through for you.

                            Newbie question:
I was just about to put in my request and I see this note:

Note: The system defaults for searching purposes to the Thursday prior to the dates you have entered. You may be confirmed without contact for a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday check-in for any resorts selected.

Can I call them and specify that I only want a hold placed like you can with RCI or am I just stuck with whatever gets assigned? ...or is that saying that if you search for specific resorts it will auto-confirm but area/region searches would place units on hold?

Not quite. I usually type in the resorts that I want. What'll happen is that you'll get calls from II with "approximate matches". To prevent that, after you set your ongoing request, call in and have a guide set it to a specific check-in day (if that's your preference) and only call for the resorts you've indicated. If there is a match, it'll be an autoconfirm and you'll get an email when it matches. However, you'll still have the standard 24 hours to cancel if you choose
