  • More II Newbie questions AC and membership specials

Hi, I own Grande Ocean Gold and have always used our week. I reserved a week durring spring break for 2010 and would like to trade. I have not joined II at this time and have a few questions.

Does II run membership specials frequently? I searched and found info on 2 for 1, but this code has expired. Any thoughts if this is likely to happen again this year?

I called II and inquired if this week would qualify for an AC. I was told not at this time, but has qualified in the past years. Is it best to join in the fall? Is there a time of year when AC are given out for 2010? Will trade power of my Marriott week go down if I wait 6 months in advance?

I am used to RCI, where I know I need to deposit a year out for maximum trade power.

    Thanks for any help.

Yes, II does run 2 for 1 specials periodically. The last two times that I extended my membership, I got a 2 for 1 deal. II does offer different deals to different timeshares tho, and at least one of those times I got the deal by depositing my Sheraton, not my Marriott.

If you were to deposit your week today, and at some future time II decides to give out AC's for the week that you deposited, you would still be entitled to the AC. You just need to stay on top of it, and call II so that you get your AC. They most likely will not just deposit the AC into your account, once they decide which weeks are entailed to AC's.

Yes, your trading power will be diminished if you deposit 6 months out....Like RCI, II claims that the farther in advance of check-in date that you deposit your week, the stronger the trading power.

    Good luck!

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Thanks for the response. I did not realize I could request AC after if II started offering one for my week.

While this is true, it is much less true with II than with RCI. A week depsoit in II will still have good trading power at 6 months, clearly not as good as it would have at 12 months, but still good. In RCI there would be a significant loss of trading power if you wait till 6 months.

I am also going to mention that II now requires you to have the code they mail to you in order to give u an Accomodation Cert now. I helped a co-worker deposit her weeks this week and they would not give her the certs as she did not have her card with the offer code on it.

In that case I would have not made the deposit and told the agent why!

Either they would have changed their mind or not had my unit.

I called the Marriott II agent and he told me my week would qualify for an AC. The day before when I called the regular II number I was told it did not. I would like to use an AC for an off week to travel 2010 in October. I am thinking worth while waiting a year out from AC travel plans and 6 months out from my Grande Ocean week to deposit.

All this talk about ACs and I'm a little lost.

Maybe because I don't use II much since the only thing I have that trades in II is my Ft. Laud Bch. Resort.

So my question is do you think a week 24 at FLBR would get an AC? Also do they offer this up front or do I have to ask for it? I usually just deposit online. Am I making a mistake by not calling?

And lastly, what is an AC? I know it is an accomocation certificate, but what exactly is it? Is it a certicate that entitles you to another week of vacation for an additional fee or do you get another week for free without having to deposit an additional week or pay an additional fee?

In this case, the person did not need or want the certs....and she was so confused by the whole process it was just easier to deposit.

But we did tell the II rep of our displeasure.

Call the Marriott II rep back and let them know you did not get the mailing with the code on it and u would need them to send it out before u deposit.
This year for the first time, there was a date u had to deposit by in order to get the AC. For winter Aruba weeks it was sometime in August but they didn't send the offer until mid to late February.

No, i do not think it will get one - and as u have been an owner for a while - ii used to make the offer online - so if u never saw it then no, not getting one.
Fort lauderdale would get one for weeks 51,52, 1-14 but it is also resort specific
                        ,

Is it a certicate that entitles you to another week of vacation for an additional fee yess, $199/249/299 depending on unit size - and there are restrictions to where and when u can travel or do you get another week for free without having to deposit an additional week or pay an additional fee?

Well believe it or not in the 7 years that I've had my FLBR I've only deposited it once with II. I usually just do the getaways or use the unit.

So I had never noticed any AC offers but I imagine that my week is not very desireable although the resort is always full that week.

Chris, it would be VERY noticable - every time u would log into your II account, you would see writig under your week that offered you an AC.

An AC is offered as an incentive to get you to deposit your week into II - just because u don't get an offer does not mean your resort is not good - just that II has plenty of inventorry at that resort/area for the time period you own.
