    Ac?

"When I look online, they are offering me an AC. Does that have any significant worth?"

Where do you see this on the II site? Just curious. They told me on the phone that my resort would most likely get an AC...I haven't deposited yet, and don't see any reference to it online with my account.

I own at the Pono Kai in Hawaii, and until now have only traded with RCI.

A/Cs are given for high demand weeks at high demand resorts. They can be useful and I've grabbed many a great week with them. Note that all A/Cs are not alike-some have restrictions, some have higher costs. Get the specifics before depositing so you won't be disappointed.

        New to II

        Hello,

My wife and I just purchased a Timeshare in Bayse VA. Week falls over 4th of July, week 26. Doing some research to get some peace of mind as if I did the right thing. They do not let you into the Interval website until your right to cancel period is over and that makes me think that I am being scammed. Is there any website or guide out there to see if I got a good deal.

What is the true actual average of a getaway package say Disney reort for a week in peek time?

        Thanks,

        Griff

          Griff,

If you are buying from a developer and your right to cancel isn't over yet, RESCIND IMMEDIATELY. You can do a search here on 'rescind' and see the same advice posted over and over again by many here to all the newbies that ask the same question.

Your contract will have specific instructions for rescission, follow them to the letter. It will need to be in writing and delivered via a specific method (registered/certified mail, etc... look at the contract). After you spend time here and researching elsewhere, you will be able to buy a resale at a MUCH lower price and possibly make a better decision about what to buy (though a week 26 is at least a prime holiday week). Did you buy it to use or did they tell you could 'trade it for anything anywhere?"

Any member here can get good accommodations in Orlando for under $400 for a week almost any time of the year. I just booked a week at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club in Orlando for $349. Orlando is overbuilt and supply exceeds demand except for primo holiday time.

As for the value of timeshares, start by looking at Timeshare for Sale on ebay, look at some completed auctions. I see one for sale in Basye for $6500, but it has no bids and I doubt it will get any as that seems way high.
I've seen summer weeks in Newport, RI (very high demand) go for under $2500.

Also take a look at bidshares.com.

I would also suggest that this question be moved to the "General Timesharing' forum, with the title "Newbie here, what should I do?" and you will likely get more responses, but rescind right away, whatever deal they are offering will always be there later, though you won't look back.

edited to add: here's another Bayse listing on ebay, week 41, so not as prime as yours, but still trades 'red' and a nice fall week (I am NOT advocating you buy this, however, even at $99): http://cgi.ebay.com/VIRGINIA-BAYSE-R...QQcmdZViewItem

Thanks for the advice I have been drafting my letter.

the unit is a resale we purchased for 8500 and they offered us 12 additional weeks, I guess that is the getaway deal. They said best thing to do is if we are not going to use our week to rent it out usuall get around 1200 for the week then you need to pay around 200 for the realtor rental fee. Then they say to pocet the money and use your 12 weeks that you get each year. This is a deeded timeshare.

            thanks,

            Griff

I don't understand about the additional weeks... Are you going to have to pay to use them, like pay the Maintenance Fees? Can you use them in the summer or are they junk weeks? I can't tell without more info, but either way you should be able do better than $8500, as most people here would consider that an expensive timeshare. Please try to post this in the General Timeshare section or in the East Coast section under US Timeshares to get some input from people more familiar with the area you are looking in. Developers (resale or not) always through in 'extras' to try to justify the higher prices. Buy what you want, don't pay too much, and forget about 'extra weeks,' because once you join RCI or II you will have access to plenty of 'bonus inventory,' 'extra vacations,' and the like. But please, once you rescind, spend a lot of time lurking here and asking questions before you buy anything; it's pretty complicated, but there are lots of great folks here that will help you out and answer your questions.

Welcome to TS4Ms, glad you found us!
