  • Searching in II by Map/Region

It has recently been brought up that rather then "Search all Destination" it would be great to be able to choose an area such as USA.

Here is a partial solution to that question.

    Log into your II account
    Click on the "Exchange" Tab

On exchange page under 1. Search Type - click on "Use a Map"

The next page has a world map and says...
    Resort Search
Select a region from the map to find a resort(s) and check availability.

You then click on the area you want - I chose the USA
The next page is the USA map and it says...
    Resort Search
Select a region from the map to find a resort(s) and check availability.

The USA map is divided into 12 areas
New England, Mid Atlantic, Southeast, Florida...etc.

When I click on "Southeast" I get a page that says....
    Resort Search
Please select an area from the links below to display a list of all featured resorts within the area.
and then u have the option of "Select All" and there are approximately 18 choices...you could leave of as many as u like or select all

I tried the same with "Caribbean" and the steps were the same.

I am a "Search All Destinations" kinda girl but here is the information for those who want it.

I'm still kind of new to this ... are you saying that if you want to search the entire USA, you need to do it region by region?

Yes, you can not just pick USA, which is why it is better to pick "Search All Destinations" instea of the map to see EVERYTHING that is available for your dates. Understand?

Wackymother asked about this because she is used to RCI which allows you to pick "USA" as an area to search.

Does II allow you to request or reserve a room with a view? Such as oceanfront? Or do you always take your chances on your room location?

No desert, there is no view guarantee.
One strategy is to know your resort.

example - Marriott BeachPlace Tower in Ft Lauderdale has ocean front view or intercoastal view - that is it - no garden view or parking lot view.
So I know if I trade in there, I will have a nice view no matter what.
I will call the resort about 10 days before and request an ocean view, but that is no guarantee.

No exchange company will guarentee a view although some of the smaller companies would know if I gave them an ocean front unit.
