  • Marriott and II - ????

    Hi

can anyone give me a nice, clear, understandable, without cost solution to my issue ??

    Here goes ...........

My wife and I, own several weeks with Marriott. Very happy with the product and my kids even more !

I recently purchased on the resale market an additional week, mainly for exchange as we like to travel as much as we can.

By error on the transfer documention my wife´s signature was clearly present but her name was not in clear print. My name and signature was clear.

Marriott registered my purchase correctly under my name. I have been able to make a reservation for next year without any problem.

The II account is in my wife´s name as she purchased the first weeks that we have.

II refuse to add the recent purchase to my wife´s account, stating that it is not possible as she is not the owner of the week I bought.

II suggest that I open another account under my name so that I can make the exchanges that I want to do. II is not exactly cheap. The same family having 2 accounts is crazy and far too expensive.

I have asked II to add my name to my wife´s account, as basically we are one of the same, any surely should be treated as so.

II have informed me that if Marriott do not tell them to add my week to my wife´s account, then they can not do it.

    Ok, so far.............

Marriott can do it without any issue, but .......... there is a $250 charge to add my wife´s name to my week. $250 which i do not want or expect to pay.

Please bear in mind that legally my wife and I own jointly all that we have, independantly of who signs and document ( for good or for bad ! )

To add to the story, we already have more Marriott weeks that are in my name only, on my wife´s II account. A normal transaction.

    So, here is the question..............

why won´t II just add my name to the II account the we have and then all the timeshare weeks that my wife and I own are in one account ???

Is it really so difficult ????? Are there some Marriott rules that say that a wife and husband are not considered to be a legal union ???

Any advise or comments are greatly welcome

    Thanks

Have you contacted the person of the company who prepared the transfer documents? I would ask them to correct their error. This is what I would do in your case.

You may get more suggestions yet from other members here.

      Hello,

yes I did, but they do not want to pay the $250 to change the documentation either. They feel, like us, that it is just a simple mistake that Marriott or II should fix. Its not complicated.

      Or perhaps it is !

Can you provide Marriott with the II account number and ask them to instruct II to add this week to your existing account? This does not address the paperwork error but at least it gives you the ability to deposit/exchange that week without paying for a separate II account.

          Hi

I tried that first. The Marriott person that I spoke to told me that the only way to change it is to complete a change of ownership document and pay $250. I explained that it was a simple mistake, but the response was the same.

Call Marriott and ask to speak with a supervisor.

Asking for the CEO's address can work wonders . . .

If you don't make any progress with the supervisor, consider getting the supervisor's name, then ask the supervisor to give you the name and address of the CEO of Marriott, so that you can write to him about their failure to correct the problem. If they try to tell you to write to Customer Service of Marriott Resorts, tell them if they don't give you the address of the CEO, you will get it off the internet.
Usually, when people hear that someone is going to write to the CEO, they think carefully whether their actions are ones that they want the CEO to hear (and have the letter get cascaded down from the CEO through all the other managers to their boss) . . .

Thanks everyone for your input so far. I feel that I am closer to a solution

I did ask to speak to the supervisor and after a little resistance, I managed to get through to the supervisior of Customer Service. I explained my story again and got a very polite response. Basically it was, the same

Request a change of ownership at a cost of $250 or open another II account in my name.

I am sure there is an easy solution. Its seems so simple to me. If someone somewhere just corrects the mistake. I will be a happy Marriott customer again, Interval will get some revenue from me as I will be wanting to make and exchange. At the moment I can so mad with them that I want to cancell my "wife´s" membership completely.

                All ideas are welcome

                  Same problem

                  I understand your frustration.

One of my TS is in joint title with my girlfriend and my others are in sole title with me.

Interval makes us have 2 memberships. After my divorce, they would not remove my ex-wife from the Interval account until the Deed was changed to remove her. Basically, Interval always maintains a 1:1 relationship with the Deeds. So, if you have:

                  1 TS in Name A
                  2 TS in Name B
                  1 TS in Names A & B

You will need 3 II Accounts. So, when you buy a TS, take the Title process VERY seriously if you want to make sure that you are not over-paying for II accounts.
