Over the years on these forums there have always been RCI Lovers, those who come to their defense regardless. I have from time to time.
Until now I have always been able to find a way to get RCI to work for us. Now I am down to one last, unlikely thread of hope, that I will be able to grab someone's castoff at the last minute. If I cannot, after 20 years it will have all ground to a halt.
Even when RCI worked, it was not straighforward how to get it to work, and there were glitches. Until now I was always able to find someone who cared, understood, and was able to do whatever was needed to make things right.
Oftimes a person's dissatisfaction came from lack of understanding. & it came from misinformation from the git-go, the thinking you could go anywhere anytime with any deposit, the intentional lies at the onset.
Now they're gone. Just read the threads on the RCI board . . . no one bragging about great trades, good service and no one flaunting their perceived good fortune.
The classaction suit has done that, made RCI even worse by bringing out into the open the bad behavior that was previously done covertly. It appears they have totally gone over to the dark side.
RCI has always existed for the benefit of themselves and the Affiliates. The error in the classaction is that it was not brought by the Affiliates. They are the only ones who can correct RCI. It would be in their benefit to do so.
As I told one of them this week, it is dual-edged. If RCI members cannot exchange into their resorts because deposits from their owners are being used for other purposes, then it stands to reason that their owners will/may not be able to exchange into the resorts they want to because deposits from those resorts are being used for other purpose.
Perhaps when the affiliates feel it in their pocketbooks, like we all feel it in ours, that will be critical mass for the industry.
