  • Is anything moving at RCI?

I feel like nothing is happening at RCI. Like most of you, I have my areas that I'm searching for, and it seems like I check in week after week, month after month, and nothing is being added and nothing is being taken away.

For example, I've been looking at one area for August 2010 for ages. It's always eight available exchanges there...the SAME eight available exchanges. Nothing is moving!

What about the rest of you? Are you seeing lots of new things come in and get snapped up?

Pretty slow over the last few weeks, but I only look at a couple different things regularly. There was a pretty big influx several weeks ago for 2010 summer in a couple different places.

Why do you think I've been so LAX on the ex-op board. There is very little worthy of mention and I'm sorry but going back and replying to things I've posted a month ago 5 times because the unit is still there in boring me to tears.

Be that as it may; there were a couple of gems at times you'd actually want to go this morning.

I am new to all of this RCI stuff!
But I have been looking for about 3 months for things for next summer-and nothing really seems to change at all for the Caribbean!? Is this always the case? I was told by the people we bought our first time share from that RCI was a good thing-but Im just not seeing things for Aruba, etc...

Someone want to enlighten me as to tricks?

Wtat happens to all these extra vacations that do not sell? Do they get dumped back into inventory at some point ?

Maybe this is why there is a lawsuit against RCI. The good stuff is getting "snapped" into their rental program, I guess.

I keep seeing the same things too, almost like no one is depositing, which of course doesn't make sense...

I agree - it seems nothing is changing(weeks).

The one week I have on deposit has stayed at the same number available for 3 days and was only 1,000 or so more for many days before that.

A comment I have made over the years in the January in SW FL thread is that very little changes, that there is not vast fluctuation like some would lead you to believe. Of course, that was pre-5/30.

Post 5/30, there a whole lot less to move to begin with.

As for the big number, all for the next 24 months, that is still the case, but it's a much smaller big number (230-255 now v. 600 pre 5/30)

What some of us have been watching, the 14/21-Day window is extremely volatile. I have been watching that for SW FL because:

                  1. That is the only timeframe the Top 20 resorts appear any more, at least for me, &

                  2. I'm gonna be needing something soon, so I'm interested in what's on the shelves.

From your experience, do you know if RCI in the last 14-21 days makes some of the LAST CALL rentals also available for exchanges as well?

I've noticed the same thing at II. Very strange......They seem to be offering more in the way of getaways this year, tho. There have been some excellent buys recently.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

That happens to be something I have followed, and, yes what is available as Last Call is normally also available for exchange. I have had the choice to make a few times and have always opted for the exchange because we had deposits to get rid of. Same thing right now.

No maybe about it, either that they are doing it or that is the reason for the classaction.

Read the many threads about the proposed settlement. My objection to the settlement is that it does the opposite of what was intended; it legitimizes using deposits as rentals rather than ending the practice.

When you opt to search online using the EV/LC/Exchange method, you will see stuff that is not timeshares, so not available for exchange.

Were you ever success or tried to have the Vacation Guide exchange for you a week from LAST CALL rental inventory?
