  • Enlighten me, Please?

Hello! Newbie to the forum- we bought a timeshare a year ago Sept and I joined RCi as the people we bought from said it was a good thing to have-

Moving forward- we got two more timeshares, one with 2009 paid and banked that week with RCI. ...

We own at Morritts Tortuga in Grand Cayman...red week- 1-50-
    Am I allowed to use
weeks 51-52 if I find something thru RCI>?

Do places like Aruba or St Thomas or Turks n Caicos only come on a few weeks before they are available? It seems to me that not a lot is added for those places?!?

Need some newbie help as to what / how better to use our RCI membership-
Im pretty good on the web- and dont really want to pay them extra money to do something I can do- or is it worth that?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hello, and Welcome to Timeshareforums

If your Morritt's week is already deposited with RCI, you can request a week 51 or 52. You may or may not get it....

    1. A week 51 or 52 would need to be deposited, either by an individual owner or by Morritt's, into RCI
    2. You would need the necessary "trading power" to be able to pull it, and
    3. You would need to be "next in line" to get it when and if it becomes available.

Do you know what week was banked for 2009 and far in advance it was banked?

Your best bet is to put in an ongoing request for what you want. The weeks available online are, allegedly, only those weeks left over after ongoing requests are matched.

FWIW, there are a lot of Morritt's weeks in RCI right now, but the only week 52 is a small studio for 2009. No 51 or 52 for 2010.

Have you reserved a 2010 week yet?

As it was not mentioned, I will. You can search RCI yourself, online, even if you have an ongoing search in progress. I am doing that now, sefveral times a day.

As I have for 10 years, I highly recommend that you do that, search online yourself, and then compare with and ask questions of others here.

That is the only way you can learn about trading power and what you can get for your deposit. The alternative is to stay in the dark about what you have.

Also, you cannot rely on a Guide to do things right, even to start an ongoing search correctly (as I found out, again, last week) and you cannot rely on RCI's computers.

Morritt's is one that frequently has bulk deposits and they are normally reported here on the RCI Ex Ops Board.

I have always started my searches two years out, actually searching while we are on are annual January FL trip. I have typically booked at 14-18 months out. That may have all changed 5/30/09 when approximately 60% of the deposits I had to select from disappeared, including the top 20 resorts in SW FL. Now I cannot see squat.
