  • Honeymoon gift question?

I wanted to give my cousin a honeymoon gift and was wondering if as a Wyndham owner I can deposit a 28K deposit and then exchange it for something that they want and give them my exchange?

Not sure about how these points deposits affect guest certificates.

I'm not going to rent it to them but how does RCI know that? Do they care?

Will Wyndham/RCI allow this? I don't want them to be embarassed when they go to check in without me at the resort.

    Thanks.

I have often given a RCI exchange as a gift. I did one for a honeymoon for friends (they wanted Orlando). I've done one for Spain as a gift and several others that escape my mind right now.

Once the deposit is made in your account it is trreated like any other deposit. Make the exchange and get the guest certificate, or, you can attach a gift certificate to that deposit and allow the guest to call RCI to make their own arrrangements., I presume you would be paying the exchange fee too? That can also be prepaid and attached to that specific relationship week.

Oh, this is a great idea. I didn't know you could do that. I'd love to prepay it and let them do their own ressie. Thanks for the info. I knew you guys would know how to do this right.

Chris, remember that an RCI/Wyndham deposit is usually not 'visible' so your friend would have to call RCI to try and use the deposoit...you can not search online.

If this were an II deposit, with simple instructions you could have your friend/relative do an online exchange. RCI is a challenge for us - what about 'regular' people? Just a thought....

Won't do that then because that would really turn them off to timesharing.
I guess I'll have to help them with it. Oh well, when I get back from Spain.

Yup, this way you can 'guide' them to what would actually be available and turn it into a positive experience.
