  • RCI Bait & Switch - Disney 7 nights for 3

So I'm sure most of us got the e-mail from RCI that said stay at a Disney Deluxe Villa for three nights, get four nights free. 7 nights for the price of three. They said nights start at $70 per person, or $100 with a mealplan. So I'm thinking perhaps they have SOMETHING somewhere around those prices. I didn't reasonably expect to stay at a Disney Deluxe Villa for seven nights for $600, but I thought even if it was around $1200-1400 it would be worth it. My wife and I were going to get away with our 2-year old in February anyway (to Cape Cod), but a chance to take him to Disney instead on a budget vacation was too much to pass up.

Called almost immediately, waited on hold for 20 minutes.

The week we requested was at the end of February, and she quoted two adults at $2900 for the complete vacation. I asked about the $70 rate in the ad, and she said we'd have to travel closer to January for that. So I said OK, what if we traveled in January. $2400. She said to calculate what our three night full rate was, divide by two (per person), then divide by three nights. $1200 divided by three is $400. How is that even CLOSE to $70 or even $100?

How do they get away with this? What a waste of my time.

Just as an aside, has anyone managed to use RCI points for a Disney vacation? I'd save up my points, but I doubt RCI would ever facilitate letting its members in on that when they can actually sell the resorts instead.

Because they're RCI and, according to some, they ARE the quality exchange company.

It's not until you get to the fine print that you find the "per person" number is for a party of four, in a studio. Not the most clear promotion, for sure. Even so, the prices on the 1BRs and 2BRs are better than you'd get renting from an owner at the going rate, so not a bad deal, just not an outrageously good one.

If you've got RCI points and they're not in Orlando you might have enough to get a DVC exchange. Probably not during Presidents week though. I've seen some great deals for DVC using RCI points.

Where do I find out how many points required for stays. I only have an Interval Property currently but wanted to buy some RCI points for Disney. Is there a chart somewhere that shows how many points for weeks?

I own DVC but I really liked trading my other timeshare when Disney was with Interval. I am looking for other options besides buying more points from Disney, although it seems like it might be the best route.

The RCI Directory page for each resort has a link to the Points chart. For example, here is Old Key West's.

            .: RDG :.

I don't know that I'd buy Points just to get into DVC. What happens if they leave RCI? But, if you think Points generally might be interesting to you, then it might well be worth it.

You think that's bad? I got the per fingers and toes rate. It still came out to more than $15/finger and toe per night. LOL.
