Some credits work that way (like refunds and coupons) and some do not (like RCI Elite Rewards Member Dollars).

Like today, with $239 of credits, only the $25 coupon and $64 from whereever---your guess is as good as mine--showed online; $150 did not.

So, I still had to call in, and still had to pay the higher Call Center fee . . . . which, by the way, was supposed to be corrected by the Guide issuing yet another coupon, and then redeeming it on this transaction, which he did not, and which I have learned when not to push an issue for fear of losing the baby with the bathwater.

For years I have been doing the transaction, just to get it done, and then taking care of the money done wrong after the fact.

Here is what I am now hearing, with my apology to the voice I'm hearing if I don't say this right.

In order for an Ongoing Search to continue at 14 days out, a Guide has to flip a Y or N switch. That is something I've heard over the years, which I why I brought it up with John the Friendly Guide, so he would flip mine on to keep it going, or at least ask me if I wanted to.

But mine did not get flipped on, so the Search ended at 14 days out.

Unfortunately, when that is the case, appearances do not change. It still appears to be an open search. Money does not get refunded and the deposit does not get released. Although it appears to be Ongoing, it is done, over, caput, finished.

That would be a quirk in the Search system that needs to be repaired.

The money thing, asking for new money for something that has already been paid for, is also something that needs to be fixed.

Both problems/suggestions have been passed on, or will be, to the appropriate folks. We hope.

      Happy New Year.

To summarize, I had to pay to start the Ongoing Search. $189 because it was a Call Center thing.

It did not match to stuff I could see.

Then, because the Ongoing Search was not matching, when I saw what we needed I had to confirm it as a new exchange, even though I used the deposit committed to the Ongoing Search. Again, it had to be a Call Center thing, it required another $189, new money.

So, we have paid two Call Center exchange fees, and are waiting to see how the $$$ works out. I have a couple folks looking and working on it.

        9 more hours . . .

Curious as to whether the $$$ used to start the Ongoing Search on 11/26 might have been credited back when I confirmed an exchange 12/31 with new money/credit, I called and spoke to Adam The Friendly Guide.

First, he said we had $314 in total credits on 12/31 and I was thinking we had $239. Not sure where he got that.

I tried to explain that I paid twice, on 11/26 and 12/31 for one exchange and he said, "No, No, we only took money from you on 11/26."

Well, yes, cuz everything else you have taken is credits we had.

No, no, you only paid once. Then he followed our credits and said, "Yeah, you have money missing."

No, nothing was refunded/credited when the Ongoing Search was cancelled 12/31. That is what is missing. That should be easy enough to see, huh!?

Anyway, I found out what I wanted to find out, that it has not been straightened out.

5 hours and we're on the plane.

Yes, the money in our account is screwed up, and a copy of recent months has been mailed to us. I have been told it is a mess, difficult to disect.

Having said that, let me fair. I have been accomodated satisfactorily, as I most always am.

As someone who works for them once said, there are employees who are good people and who want to do good for their customers.

Well, there, that's that side of it.
