  • La Jolla Boutique Mazatlan.

I visited Mazatlan last December my wife and I attended various timeshare presentations. Mazatlan is a very nice location and of all the places and beaches we visited, the one that stood out the most was called La Jolla Boutique Resort. They have a very nice villa in front of the ocean and they are constructing a tower as well. The location is very close to Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay, in a very exclusive and quiet area of Mazatlan. We didn't purchase a membership with them because we already have a timeshare but I am thinking about coming back this year and probably I´ll get one.

I've looked at various resale sites such as Redweek and Myresortnetwork. com but there is nothing for this resort on resale. I did however look in Trip Advisor reviews and there are a number of people pursuing lawsuits after buying on this resort so beware.
I own in Mexico but would never do it again.

We own the entire month of June at this resort - 2nd floor of the building closest to the pool, beach and pool bar. There are currently 4 villa buildings with 2 2-bedroom units in each building. The lock-out studio side does have a kitchen (with a dishwasher and full-size frig). I heard that the villas were sold out, but do not know that for a fact. I have pictures you can see if you click on the link down by my signature.

We went last year and were the only 3 people there because of the economy, swine flu and drug gang violence scares. We chose June so that we could take grandchildren and it has not gotten so hot in Mazatlan then. We are planning to go again in June 2010.

There have been some problems with the folks who purchased points in the Tower Building as construction is extremely slow on that building. It should have been completed by now, but is in the early stages of construction.

We had a great time at La Jolla Resort in our last vacations.

Mazatlan is the nicest place we have ever visited. We stayed at La Jolla Resort, the architecture and layout is 5 stars. The weather was just great, the entire week was 86-88 degrees.
We stayed in a villa which had comfortable rooms and a super clean maid service, we got fresh towels in the afternoon and then again in the morning. Kitchen is fully equipped too. Beach is nice for long morning walks. We also swam in the ocean and the water was warm enough. There were always plenty of umbrella tables and chairs available by the pool every morning. Great sunsets each afternoon. The resort and the city was so wonderful we hated to leave, we enjoyed great sea food and awesome views along the city. We also did a 5 hour city tour which included panoramic views of Mazatlan bay from parachute sailing. We will try to come back next year.

          Interesting report on your vacation.

We spent the month of June there again this year. I agree that the units are nice and having a dishwasher and full size refrigerator is great. We do live going to this resort and own the entire month of June in the 2-bedroom villa overlooking the pool, but I would not give it 5 stars. We also own at Grand Mayan and recently stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay - both of these are 5 star, not La Jolla.

We were the only people there for 3-1/2 weeks and did not get fresh towels in the afternoon. The housekeepers were excellent, but we only got fresh towels each morning when the housekeeper came and that was sufficient as they also leave pool towels in the units. The housekeepers and maintenance staff all leave about 4 PM every day.

As for plenty of umbrellas around the pool, they are all used by the sales staff in the morning. That was something that I mentioned to the manager that was needed around the chaise lounges.

The beach is nice for long walks, but is hard to walk very far on it. The sunsets are awesome.

This resort seems to be one of the recent most unethical outfits in Mexico. Many first time posters here touting it are actually shills that work for or own the resort. Do a search and see all the negativity and dissatisfied buyers there. My advice would be to stay away from the sharks and if you really like the place wait for a resale from some scammed buyer.

Oh, by the way the original poster is posting from ? you guessed it---Mexico.

Tonyg - I agree that they have a bad reputation and I will admit that I heard some tales that the salesmen were telling prospects. We were right over the model and sat out on the deck in the morning. Sometimes I had to go inside so that I did not say something and get kicked out.

My husband and I are a just a few of the happy owners. That was because we knew what we were buying and out unit was nearly complete when we bought. We got a great deal for fixed time in a fixed unit with low fixed m/f for the length of our contract. We own enough timeshares to know better than to buy points at a resort that has not been built. That does not mean that we have not been burned on other timeshares over the years, but we are seasoned timeshare owners and avid eBay purchasers for places we want to go to every year.

My husband absolutely loves this place. Now I prefer the Mayan Palace, Grand Mayan, and the Buganvilias, but since we own a total of 8 weeks at those, we compromise - a month at his favorite and at least a month at mine. Guess that is why we have been married 42 years.
