A have received a strange email from RCI on an upcoming summer timeshare rental from them in Europe, which was a bargain for ~$200. This rental was confirmed last summer and has shown on my RCI account as one of several confirmed RCI Extra Vacations for months. I have already taken one of my RCI rentals and it remained showing as an Extra Vacation and continues to show up on my account that way even though I have already used it.
The email I got from RCI on the summer week was a notice of ''Ongoing Search Cancellation'' and referenced the specific resort by name and check-in date. It said that I had requested the ongoing search yesterday. I have never at any time when I have been a member of RCI requested an ongoing search in this particular country. I did do one exchange in the same country years ago that I found online. I also found this upcoming rental online.
Concerned I went to my RCI account online. Under Extra Vacations, the week had disappeared. However in the confirmed exchange category sat the very same rental week but now designated as an exchange against a deposit described as ''Supplemental Week''. It had the transaction date of yesterday.
I found the whole thing very odd, but I printed off my new confirmation of the week as an exchange rather than a rental week. I will call the resort to make sure everything is still kosher with them.
The only angle of this that may make any sense, is that I can now no longer print off anything that shows how little I paid for the week, although I still, of course have the original printout that shows that.
