  • Ongoing Search Set-up - Number of Search Weeks to Choose

I've not had to deal with this before so realized I didn't know how it works.

While setting up my recent ongoing search for Wilderness Lodge I wanted to put in both a Friday check-in date as well as the next day Saturday check-in date. When I put in 0 weeks to search it seemed to only pick up the Friday date (which is also the date put in the date box). When I modified it to say 1 week, it included dates thru the following Friday. I am not interested in a Sunday check-in if one happens to exist. or the following Thirsday. I kind of assume that Moday-Wednesday check-ins are non-existant anyway.

So my question is: on what day of the week does a search week start? If I had put in a Thursday date would it only search for that Thursday and Friday? Leaving out Saturday again? Is Saturday the beginning of the search week regardless of check-in days available at a specific resort? Does using the week of the day check-in box really work? I hesitate to make the search more complicated than necessary due to RCI's lack of great programming.

There is a place to specify the 'Check in Day of the Week'. So, if you start the search on the Thursday before for 1 week and check only Friday and Saturday you should be covered. If you are concerned about having them auto-confirm for something that doesn't match exactly, start your search and call them and ask them to make sure that any matches are placed on hold until you conform manually. Then you will have to check every day or depend on a phone call to alert you to a match.

Being highly experienced in Annoying Searches now, 1.) the 0 weeks v. 1 week is hokey and I have a thread on that, 2.) I never could get mine to display a second check-in date, 3.) I agree to click on OK check-in days, and hope for the best.

I believe that if you specify more than one check-in date, say by having two searches with 0 weeks in place, it will search for both dates. You just can't see the second search when you check on-line. Glitch.

Thanks guys. I will modify my search by checking just the OK check in dates and hope for the best.

My experience has been that RCI ignores the exact dates anyway. I have put in an ongoing search with a specific date and RCI has put weeks on hold that are a day or 2 either side. Check often and release quickly anything that does not conform with your needs because there may be something that does match waiting in the wings.

Yeah, I put in 1/7/12, 1 week, and they matched 1/14.

When did 1 week become 8 days?

When they send an email update (monthly far out and weekly close in) it encourages you to expand the search and says they may anyway.

I have set up two searches, one for 1/14/12 and one for 1/28/12, and for Zero weeks. When I view it, it does not show that there are 2 searches:

When I choose to modify it, it shows the two searches, but that each search is for 5 weeks:

Number of weeks to search 5

Nothing you can do about it, so there's no way of knowing whether the computer has the right search going.
