Great news re the confirmations. I suppose it is possible that the resort was at fault for overbooking. Hopefully a few margueritas will help smooth those new wrinkles before they set.

Whatever you do, don't let the resort talking you into buying a Mexican timeshare while you're down there!!!!

I don't think there's anything wrong with skillfully weaving your tale of woe while on site in case maybe the resort will kiss your butt and shower you with gifts and services and whoknowswhat.

I would probably go on with the "RCI did this to me!" altho I think the resort could have been the problem all along. No reason to let on if you think so, too, unless you see an opportunity for gain. "Hey, that reminds me, they said there was a problem at the resort - what was it?" and watch them waffle and then ooze forth with apologetic gestures in an effort to make it up to you.

After all this fuss, I am embarrassed to admit that my plans have changed once again. After thinking about it over night, I have decided that it was not worth staying at that resort if we would all have to move to a different room on the last night.( no matter how nice the room is) I phoned RCI today, and said just give me my money back and I will find my own place to go, and they agreed. Feeling kind of ripped off, but much more relaxed, I tried to tell myself the moving rooms thing was not seem like a big deal, but it just kept bugging me, so I went with my gut and now feel better. Thanks for all the advice and support. I love forums!!!!

Wait a minute -- would you have had to switch rooms before all this happened, with your original confirmations?

No my original confirmation did not require me to switch rooms.
When the RCI told me that he was able to get me into my original resort, he made no mention that we would all be required to change rooms. He told me the manager would be giving me a call to make sure that any special needs we had in regards to the seniors that we were traveling with, would be taken care of.
When the manager did call, he gave us the news about having to move rooms on the last night. It did not sit right with me, but I was so tired of fighting that we went along with it ( but i did mention that I did not like the idea)

But after thinking about it all night, i decided to call RCI and say no thanks, give me my money back, and I will book my own hotel.

                NO WAY!!!!!!

They screwed up and YOU STILL PAY FOR IT WITH A MOVE? Ridiculous. that's giving up an entire day of your vacation. No way. How long ago did you reserve?

bad manager, bad. THEY SHOULD GET YOU THE HOTEL, a nice one. and you should get whatever back from RCI with orig trading power restored, exchange fees returned.

sorry for the yelling. I am pissed off for you.

glad you cancelled on them. you should call the manager back and tell him you cancelled and why. I would also throw in, since a confirmation means nothing to them, I will never attempt to reserve at their resort again and would discourage friends or family from booking since they might not have a place to stay at the last minute.

wow. I am so sorry. Big Hug, and sending a cyber-cocktail. hope you like whisky.
