You know how RCI is having this buy one, get one free sale on Getaways? I was thinking of actually doing that, since I want to go to Williamsburg in December, but I really only want to pay about $300 for it, not the $500 that RCI would like me to pay.
So I call RCI and I get a nice guide, and I tell her which week I want from Getaways, and she says, first, that that week is not available for the offer, and then, when I press her further, she says it is, but if I'm doing that BOGO offer, it will be $560 rather than the $467 price posted online in the regular getaways. (There would be taxes and fees on the $467, making it about $500.) She says the $560 includes tax. I didn't go for it.
Now that I'm thinking about it, though, isn't this bait-and-switch? If a store did this--advertise a selling price--and then, when you call, tell you that item actually costs $60 more, the store would be in trouble. How come RCI can do this?
