  • RCI just called with an offer

I wish I had written it down but I didn't so this is close but not entirely correct. I'm hoping someone else got this call and can expand. The vc called and wanted to know if I was interested in cruising. They were offering a cruise and a weeks vacation for $2200? 2300? It was for 2 people and we can choose the cruise & line from Princess, Norwegian, RCL, Carnival & one more that I can't remember but it wasn't Disney. You could do it within 18 months. Depending on when you wanted to cruise you could get a balcany, altho inside was guaranteed ( That I remembered) I didn't get info on size of unit. He wanted me to tell him tonight or he would pass it on to another member if I couldn't make a decision or that I wasn't interested.

I told him if he expected me to hand over $2200 tonight he was crazy. On know, he had a payment plan, so much down and $113 a month or hereabouts.

Anyone else get this call? shaggy

This is an "old" offer - they have been doing it for several years.
My friend purchased this and then attempted to book a cruise for 2 adults and 1 child - the add ons were ridiculous and they were never able to get her an exchange week that worked for her - RCI refunded her money.

Shaggy, you would be able to book a cruise deal better on your own thru the internet or use an agent like Kathy Q. I suggest that you don't buy the package.

I've been getting a lot of calls from RCI lately, but since I have Called ID I haven't answered the phone. Who knows what wonderful offers I may have missed.

I got that call about 3 weeks ago-- I tried to be polite and explain to him that while it sounded lovely there was no way I could get enough time off of work to take the vacations I already had with my membership-- that didn't stop him from trying.. then I explained that I don't have $2200 in my budget for an unplanned vacation at some later date... still no go.. so I just said byebye and hung up... seriously????

I iamagine they will call me back because I used a Dr's appointment. My answer of course will be no because after all you can get a last minute cruise at a heck of a deal and extra vacations are available for 239 all the time or if he says I don't want it he'll give this exceptional deal to another member I'll tell him , good , go ahead, hope they can use it. shaggy

              RCI'S Cruise Discounts

I got a different call regarding discounts on a cruise with something called Cruise Perks. They explained how I could do an exchange and I didn't want to give up my Red Week so I asked did they have any other savings on cruises. My husband and I have really wanted to go on Allure of the Seas (Royal Caribbean) every since I saw it on Oprah's Favorite Things. Needless to say about 45 minutes I had booked a mid-ship balcony stateroom. While I was talking to young lady I was also looking at Priceline, Royal Caribbean's website, Travelocity, and Expedia. Honestly, I saved over $400 booking through them and I got to keep my week so it was a good experience. I have went online and booked all of our shore excursions and I must say I was pleasantly surprised as I typically don't like dealing with RCI.

The woman explained that she would be my personal vacation consultant from here on out and I could allow friends and family to get my RCI savings as well. She was a pleasure and I didn't feel pressured or like she was trying to hard sell me. I wonder if she works on commission? Anyhoo, I am pleased as punch and can't wait to get on Allure; it sounds amazing. I will definitely be calling back probably not to exchange but definitely for their cruise savings, we are thinking about doing a Western European cruise next and I wonder if RCI will finally be worth something to us!!!!

Mom got the call today too.
I didn't, but I've got her trained to say no to anything that has to do with timeshares since I've had to cancel her signups because she has zero sales resistance.
She didn't even get the details.
I rewarded her with a nice dinner.

I am currently in a payment plan for this offer, the wife and I have been talking about a cruise for a while and this, with so many options, seemed a good fit at the time. After I signed they then sent an access number to a full schedule of cruises available, and there are many, varying from 4 days to 2 weeks and ports from any part of the world. Obviously you have to get there. And yes we get a free week at one of the top timeshare resorts. My problem at the moment is fitting everything in with my other timeshare commitments and my job, as both the cruise and the free week have an expiry date.
