  • Crazy RCI rental prices

I was just looking at RCI EV rental prices, and their US prices seem rather crazy. Places like coastal and inland North Carolina in off season are listed at around US$1,600, as are inland Georgia, and much of South Carolina in off season. $1,600 in off season???!!!! Florida rental was generally considerably cheaper even in snowbird season. So was most of the UK.

Of course, I am searching the European version of the RCI site, but in the past the US and EU versions have been very close to the same on prices.

I wonder if RCI has now decided that off season in the southeast is like gold or if there is some glitch in their glitch-prone computer system.

I think it's an EU vs. US site issue. The highest price I see anywhere in North Carolina in EV is about $1000, and that's a late May/early June coastal week. Most of the highest prices for individual resorts are in the $500-$600s.

Usually the EU and US sites are about the same price on rentals, which is what is bizarre. I wonder if RCI has decided that Europeans will suddenly pay more for off season rentals in the southeastern US or whether it is just a computer glitch. The European site prices these rentals in dollars rather than euros or pounds when I look at it. I guess their system looks at my country of residence and regard dollars as the main hard currency here (which is a bit behind the times, as it has now shifted more to the euro) and makes the conversion.

Many of the Florida rentals are in the range you mention, some down in the $300s, so it is not the whole US with the crazy prices. There are probably some other areas correctly priced as well, but I just checked around through a few states.
