  • Found a points resort in Rockland, ME

I noticed a points resort I haven't noticed before while checking the standard points reservation inventory today. It is called Trade Winds on the Bay (#A319). The reviews at places like TripAdvisor are not good but the pics on the resort's web site look pretty good. The location is not as nice as Samoset as far as the view goes but it is right in the middle of Rockland, an easy walk to shops, restaurants, museums, etc. There has been a lot of inventory available in June of next year, so far. It will be interesting to see if that continues into July and August.

Anyone stayed there recently? This could be a decent alternative for points owners who want to get to this area of Maine and have struck out on Samoset.

I believe they started selling that about a year ago. I knew one of the salesmen, but he got discouraged and quit after a short time. If I get down that way next month, I'll try to check it out.

      Sure looks pretty.

Is this area nicer than Ogunquit?

I'm going in October so wondering if I should move north.

Never been to Ogunquit. This is closer to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.

The water is much colder "down east" in Rockland and the Acadia area. We spend at least one week a year staying right near Acadia National Park- either in Ellsworth or Southwest Harbor. The coastline tends to be more rugged "down east".
