  • Disney Resort Question

I was finally able to pull a Disney Resort property since they moved to RCI. Then I read this,

A US $95.00 RESORT FEE PER UNIT PER WEEK WILL BE BILLED UPONCHECK-IN FOR ALL EXCHANGES. THIS FEE IS INCLUDED IN THE FEEFOR ANY RENTAL. THE FEE INCLUDES SHUTTLE SERVICE PROVIDED BY DISNEY MAGICAL EXPRESS, EXTENDED PARK VISITATION HOURS ON SELECT DAYS AND TRANSPORTATION THROUGHOUT DISNEY RESORTS. FEE ALSO COVERS ADVANCE DINING RESERVATIONS, ASSISTANCE WITHOPTIONAL DISNEY DINING PLAN, TEE TIMES AND DELIVERY OF ANY PURCHASES MADE AT DISNEY DIRECTLY TO YOUR RESORT. DETAILS WILL BE PROVIDED ALONG WITH RESERVATION CONFIRMATION. VALET PARKING, WIRELESS ACCESS & OTHER CHARGES MAY APPLY. PETS AND SMOKING ARE NOT ALLOWED. DUE TO HIGH DEMAND, EXTRA VACATION INVENTORY HOLDS CAN ONLY BE GUARANTEED UNTIL THE CLOSE OF BUSINESS (SAME DAY). **MEMBERS WHO OWN AT RCI RESORTS WITHIN A 30-MILE RADIUS OF ORLANDO CANNOT EXCHANGE INTO DVC RESORTS.

So does this mean that since I own at Orange Lake, I can not exchange one of my other weeks into DVC via RCI?

No, you just can't use your Orlando week to get into Disney but can use one of your other weeks. It's a bit confusing.

I think they assume most people only own one timeshare unlike all of us addicts.

I wish Disney would go back to exchanging with II. However, in light of the exchange question, I am a points owner with Diamond and there are several DRI resorts in the Orlando area. Though I am technically not an owner at any of the resorts, does that mean, if Disney goes back to II, I wouldn't be able to make an exchange into Disney?

I think that is an RCI rule and not Disney. I don't remember them having the same restriction when they were with II. Maybe I missed it since the only resort I have in the Orlando area is Orange Lake and it is a RCI resort only.

Makes no difference. It's DVC not the others

The block on using Orlando resorts for trade is a DVC rule not RCI/II. RCI/II have to enforce it for DVC.

So if I have a points system, not direct ownership in Orlando, could I still book with DVC through RCI or II?

I'm pretty sure that you can. Points in a club are viewed differently

Even before Disney other timeshare developers created this rule with the exchange companies years ago, because some sales reps would tell prospects things like, why not buy here (in Orlando) for so much less money and then just trade into the resort you really want, ie Disney, Marriott, etc...

You know the maintenance fee here is only $300 instead of _________ and for exchange purposes Orlando is Orlando and red is red so you should join here at my mom's resort and trade into that luxury one -type of a presentation.

              Hope this helps!

Disney is not an II resort, switched to RCI a couple of years ago.

Yeah, I know that - but I can hold out hope that one day they'll switch back to II.

Yes you can. I own a HGVC points in Orlando and can get DVC with that unit thru the corporate link in the club website. I guess the club would deposit non Orlando points for me to get the unit. Not sure how it works in the back end but am assuming that's how they do it.
