Has anyone noticed a very recent drop in trading power?

      From a post OY:

In the business world it is called ''dumping'' - driving down the price by flooding the market. Who knows what RCI's end game may be for this tactic.

5/30/09, along with the disappearing inventory. Then it continued getting worse with 2011 deposits. Same weeks much worse.

FWIW, they admitted the disappearing stuff in court, in the classaction case, but then nothing ever happened about it.

To me, the issue that intigues me is how RCI will monetize Wyndham point desposits in relation to the "good stuff".

I agree Mike, Wyndham deposits were devalued a while ago and it will be interesting to see how this affects us now.
Another question is how this will affect the late trade window or will that competely disappear now??

Speaking of enhancements, things were a lot simpler before the enhancements started way back when, back when a week got a week, or didn't get a week, and all of us were unable to know the difference.

Each divergence from the original concept, which was not perfect, seems to have made things more not perfect.

But produced beaucoup $$$ for the divergers.

IMHO, the best plan would have been to have just one exchange company, a regulated monopoly ala the trustbusters of the olden days. Then everything available would be in one basket. In the case of timeshare exchange, more competition means less choice for everyone.

& the competition has cost the consumer jillions of dollars, no offense to Ann.

Yeah, I remember those days when if we got an exchange we thought were had cut a fat hog. In fact, we were getting crap. Then we learned the game and got good stuff.

Now we wish we could get crap again, instead of lesser than crap, well, where and when we want it.

I just got off the phone with Wyndham. Was calling to make some RCI deposits with my remaining this years points. I had wanted to make visible deposits and the rep told me the usual that my getting them would depend on availability. She then proceeded to tell me that if I want to be sure to get visible deposits that I should wait until Nov 17 to do them. That (as we already know) the whole system is changing over then and that all deposits will be visible or at least be able to be searched on line with. She said that we should be getting something next week explaining the system. She also said that a new deposit points system will be put in to place and that the old demoninations will no longer be valid (ie 28K blue studio, 154K red 2BR). She said that we would be able to put in as many points as we wanted to and search eith before or after depositing. I said it sounds like the weeks system is going points and she said "well the weeks system will not be the same as it is now". She gave a "song and dance" that things will be much more convient for the users and that most users will be able to find thiongs that they want although it will be a little more expensive for many weeks users.
Anyway, it is just speculation on my part but I would say that for us Wyndham users the way we have used our trades is about to change drastically and while there may be some benefit in our being able to possibly get some properties that we couldn't before, the deals that we were able to get sometimes (last minute or what not, 28K deals etc) will be just a distant memory soon..

Sounds like the old deposit will not be visible if they are not today. That means it will be more complex just to maintain that for a while.

That is correct. I was told that deposits I have as non=visible now won't change and alsodeposits that ared on file as visible won't change either and won't be included in this new sceme. But as you said that will mean they have to keep up dual systems until those old deposits are used, which could be up to 2 years from now.

One of the purported RCI insiders OY has said that there will be a fee to combine weeks or to use ''change back'', and that the fee is likely to be an additional $79 on top of the exchange fee. That certainly makes splitting or combining fees far less attractive.

I heard that both OY and on another forum. I heard both $79 and $98. Also ties in with what the Wyndham person said to me that it would be enhanced and that we would have more choices but that it may cost a little more.
