  • Yes, they have vastly changed the timetable. There will be a lot less deposits more than 9 or 10 months out. Since frequent flyer tickets open up at 11 months and for popular destinations they go quick, this is going to make planning a nightmare for those who use ff tickets for their vacation travel. Doesn't RCI comprehend things like that? Those who have to arrange their vacation time long in advance may also have similar problems.

Early deposit does not get as much credit as early exchange costs. There is a max TPU for each deposit, which does not correspond favorably with max TPU for exchanges.

    • The key thing to watch is whether the value offered for deposits ever moves. They have set this up on a grid pattern like a points system, which means it is more likely to be left as is.

It appears that the value charged for an exchange is being adjusted, and not just downward.

If assume the other resort which the management company also did spacebank, but it is based on their owner's request, I will assume both value will be the same. But for few resort, it apprently RCI deposit time and owner request is kind of seperated, it may have different value?

I assume Disney's deposit will be gone pretty soon, Wyndham's deposit is not good since the owner does not really get it on the time the request a deposit, althought it will be interest to see if their trading power required get up a little after a while and if they get drop a little after a while.

      • For anyone who is under any illusion that supply and demand had anything whatsoever in setting numbers for RCI's ''Points Lite'' here is an eyeopener.

An owner of a summer 3BR in Presidential Villas, way off the beach at Myrtle Beach can deposit his week in RCI''Weeks'' and get 60 points lite, trade it for a like size and season for a 3BR in Allen House in London, the hardest place on the planet to trade into, for 53 points lite and get change back!

Huh? Way off the beach Myrtle Beach into London for same size and season with change back???? Whatever those guys at RCI are smoking, it clearly isn't a tobacco product!

        • JLB,
What I find really shocking is that a 2br marginal silver crown in Lead or a broom closet in Manhatten is worth 2 2br strong gold crowns in Orlando or 1-1/2 2br gold crowns in Myrtle Beach. I'm sure glad that RCI didn't screw with the reviews -- because that's the only thing that will keep the unsuspecting from getting a rude wake-up call! So much for the quality side of things, eh?

Yeah wev'e been to both of the first cases... and never again.

          • RCI is Charging more to exchange into my Resort than the credits they give me!

I sent this email to RCI today.

I know that you are still fine tuning the Enchancement/Trading Power.

However, I think it is just WRONG that you gave me 24 credit points for each of my 2 weeks in St. Augustine at The Beach Club for the weeks March 20, 2010 and April 3, 2010 and then charge 25 credit points for my March 20, 2010 week and 28 credit points for my April,3, 2010 week for anyone wanting to trade into the Beach Club .

Well, it could be worse. They could be renting them to non-members for $$$$. They do enough of that, too!

But I think the reason for the increase in credit points to trade into the resort is that it may push an owner to combine their deposits for a fee of $99.

Welcome to the World of Marriott Destination Club - ALL weeks are given 20-25% less credits then it takes to actually reserve the week you own.
I guess RCI saw what a great success this was for Marriott and jumped right in!

                  • I am finding just the opposite to be true with both my Orlando resort and my PV resort. RCI is giving me more points than what I would need to trade into the same weeks.

                    • The numbers are very glitchy.

I just found an October 28th week at Celebrity Brigantine listed at costing 44 units, while the same week/same size unit at La Samanna or Brigantine Beach Club is 17.

Maybe we should start a "spotted glitch" thread for RCI, though they really ought to pay us for it!

                      • Off season 1BR's at Allen House they will only give you 29 points lite for. I wonder what they would charge someone for it? Seriously the way they have underpointed Allen House, any owner there would be a fool to give it to RCI. I am sure they would do better in trade with SFX.

The independents should do very well after this latest "enhancement," not a bad outcome.

                          • While golfing today (which I am doing a whole better than dealing with RCI) it occurred to me that one lie that is told on just about every tour, that you can trade to anywhere with our resort, is now probably true.

Just about anything has the possibility of trading to anywhere else.

Exactly what I have been saying for a long time now, that I just used the system that was presented to me to get what I got.

                              Now I can't.

When you do something for a long time, say more than ten years and more than 100 times (representing an expenditure of more than $50,000), you should not have to apologize for it, or have to take ---- from anyone, and you should have earned some right to expect it as SOP.

I felt violated 5/30/09 and I feel violated now.

I have not changed anything about what I am doing . . . someone else has, and each time we have gotten screwed.
