Originally posted by CarolinianThat is essentially the business model of DAE. If someone had presented that as a theory, I would have probably said that it would not work, but in fact DAE has proven that it does work.
It takes all the mystery/deceit out of it.
For those who buy to trade, it would give value to off-season weeks.
It would make liars truthful.
The problem of excess inventory would still be a problem. So what?RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Something interesting that I just noticed looking at my OBX resort is that RCI is, in fact, giving more points lite for depositing more than a year out, at least as to the shoulder and high season, but not low season. This makes good business sense in giving more credit for depositing earlier and giving RCI more time to make the exchange. It ranged between 1 and 3 extra points lite on the maximum points lite value for 2012 deposits as opposed to 2011 deposits. I plan to check this in some other areas to see if this is just some resort areas or is more general.
RCI should publicize this to encourage earlier deposits. For people who use ff miles to travel to their timeshare exchanges, they need to confirm more than 11 months out, so whatever RCI does to encourage deposits farther out helps them. If RCI is doing this generally, it is strange that they would not publicize it.

Well, scratch the theory in the last post. I just checked a couple of very high demand / low supply resorts in southern England, and there the maximum points lite offered for a 2011 deposit exceeded the number offered for the same week and unit in 2012! That is absolutely irrational, especially since these resorts are underpointed to begin with. One of those I checked incidentally was Allen House.

C'mon folks, regardless of whether you came out ahead, stayed the same, or got screwed . . .
. . . If you went to the gas station where you paid $3/gallon last week, and it is $6/gallon today
. . . If you paid $2 for a loaf of bread last week, and it is $4 today
. . . If your electric bill was $300 last month and it is $600 this month
. . . If a round of golf was $100 last time and it is $200 this time
. . . If the car you have been looking at for $25000 now is $50000
What if you had been patronizing those businesses for 20 years?
What if we were at the depth of a recession?
What if you did absolutely nothing to deserve it . . . you just woke up and that's the way it was?
What if while you were buying those things, what if there were two lines, and you saw the people in the other line were still getting gas for $3, bread for $2, golf for $100 and the car for $25000?
Would you not be pissed?RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

If I saw the two lines, I'll join the one where the gas was still selling for $3. Does not matter if I patronized the other shop for 1-2-5-10 or 20 years. That was my parent's era where loyalty counted. Would I be pissed. A bit. But the decision to switch would be in a heartbeat.
The key is not where I am buying from. It is what I am getting for my money. Whoever gives me the most gets my money. Period.

It may slice, and dice, and julienne.
It may mince and chop with the touch of a button.
It may come with teeny tiny clothes pins.
It may get things really, really white.
It may be all the knives you'll ever need.
It may be able to cook an entire meal in one pan, including pineapple upside down cake.
It may fill in that bald spot on the top of your head.
It may fit in your glove compartment, attach to your belt, and come with a mini tackle box.
It may inject the yummiest flavors you've ever tasted.

But Wait! If you act now, they may double your order.
(Plus shipping and handling.)
But, the only thing that really matters is if you can continue to do what you have been doing, if you were planning on continuing to do it, for the same amount of money or less.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Folks can gloat all they want about wise choices, seeing the handwriting on the wall, and all sorts of razzle dazzle clairvoyance, but the short of it is . . . some were chosen and some were not, through little or nothing on their part, which is as it always has been with RCI.
The difference now is everyone knows.
The overwhelming majority were not chosen, as that would not work.
Most RCI Weeks members right now are sucking eggs.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

When own 6 weeks. Prior to November I would consider depositing any of them, or all of them, with RCI.
Now only 2.
It would take a re-evaluation by RCI to change that.
I'm guessing any Weeks under a certain value for depositing, somewhere around 15-20, are in jeopardy of not getting deposited.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

I am seeing some identical units for same check-in dates? Do you think we are seeing everything available for every check-in date?RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick
