RCI seems to be packaging 1 week in hotel rooms to promote on timeshare rental sites

It seems RCI is now packaging a week of hotel room nights to promote them on their rental networks traditionally used for timeshare. I just caught two sightings which I will repost below just for reference. Has anyone else noticed the practice? Are these part of the Cendant network? Are these also available for regular exchanges in weeks or points?

It seems the cross promotion is finally coming back the other way.....is this positive or negative in your view?

Extra Vacations has always had overpriced hotel units for New York. Like Wilshire Plaza.

I did notice when doing database for Hawaii that MANY of the "new" resorts were Astons. Made me curious. Well they show up in the rental bin too. That answered that question.

I think I broke the Rental Community International website. Can't get in right now.

Just goes to show that I hardly ever look at RCI's rip off EV's anymore....and here I thought I caught a new trend.

The only time I look at EV's is to figure out what might fall into last call or the other last minute rental sites when people refuse to pay some of those outrageous rates.

Yes, I have noticed that, and I also saw many hotel properties in Italy one day....in fact I think I will go and check that again...haven't done so in a few weeks.
