Lawren,
I don't there is much chance of you or any of the other "searchers and finders" becoming obsolete. RCI has made some things easier but the process is even more complicated in other ways. Plus the knowledge and insight that you and others bring to the table is always appreciated. I know that I have learned a lot over the years.
Hey with this new system maybe I can get back to contributing to ex-ops. I was getting frustrated as to what I could find to post with my Wyndham weeks.

Going forward, the purpose of sightings won't necessarily be to find the rare bird. It will be to find the glitchy credit assignments. For example, I was pretty pleased to find that the Williamsburg resort I was most interested in seemed to have the lowest summer credit values. Unfortunately, I can't take advantage of that, but perhaps someone else can.

What made you choose 33+ ????

And by the way, I did not KNOW you could do that!

But I also have found that there are some "nuggets" at the 26+ point as well. Surprisingly so.....and I fear that this will "shift" over time.

I too hope you continue to post ex-opps. I agree with bnoble that it's not just finding the highest credit cost opps but finding the hard to get ones that are there to nab, regardless of their credit cost. So I hope you don't choose to just focus on the top credit cost exchanges.

I have learned what exchanges are desirable from reading the ex-opps cause you don't post the mediocre ones. That in itself is highly valuable to me.

I come here first every time I log on to my computer. Reading the ex-opps and finding something that I am interested lets me go onto RCI and target right in on something and not dilly-dally window shopping or searching a bunch of things while what I want gets snatched by some other lucky person.

FYI, I own a Pier 7 studio week 26. I'll get 22 credits when I deposit. This week includes the 4th of July for 2012. The following week (the one sighted) doesn't and gets 30 credits according to the calculator. I find that a bit odd. I could see week 26 being that much lower on years it doesn't include the holiday but not on a year that it does.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Indeed, in the Brave New World, some of the "easier gets" are worth getting *because* they may have lower-than-usual credit values. What's more, I take a lot of vacations in "mediocre" destinations because that's where I happen to want to go.

Too often, we here (and OY) get caught up in the "great exchange" rather than worrying about "the vacations we want to take."

They did the same thing with the summer SoCal weeks - if it starts in June, they are giving a much lower trade value then the July weeks - weird for sure.

I agree with your last sentenance. I also think I phrased what I was trying to say wrong. Let me try again, maybe I'll do better.

What I meant is that if I want to go to Gatlinburg (or wherever) I can get a feel for some of the better places to stay in that specific location (better in terms of resort location or amenities or whatever) from whether or not the resort is mentioned in the ex-opps threads. Oakmont has never been posted in the ex-opps but Gatlinburg Square has. That leads me (maybe not anyone else) to think hmmm... maybe I should be trying to snag Gatlinburg Square and pass up the Oakmont resort. If I want to go to VT, I probably will be checking out Smuggs before any other resort. I may or may not choose to that resort in the end but I sure have a head's up to give it a good look. Ex-opps helps me focus on certain resorts in certain locations first. What I choose from there depends entirely on my family's vacation goal for that specific trip.

I'm not Lawren, but I have a theory about RCI. I saw no weeks over 41 trading power in her search, so I think she seached with a 41 trading power week. Manhattan Club has a trading power range of 34 to 60. A 41 tp won't see anything with an upper end higher than 41, if I am understanding RCI's search parameter correctly? By switching from "show vacations that match my deposits" to "show all available RCI vacations", she would have been able to see Manhattan Club. If everyone took all of the higher value MC weeks, I think her search would show the 34, 37, and 40 trading power MC weeks. Assuming my theory is valid, my 36 trading power week would still not show any weeks available until all the weeks above 36 are taken. MC might make more deposits, prior to the higher deposits being taken, that mess this up. This is all speculation based on my observations trying to get into MC and to understand why I could never see MC before the change.
