  • all the fun is gone in RCI searches

Just not motived anymore in searching for exchanges at RCI. That "gem" to be found and the excitement no longer exist. I own a Woodstone unit and get "18 Points" if I deposit early enough. Hoping that Massanutten will consider an interenal exchange program with affiliated resorts.

Actually, I like the new format - with an 18, there is still plenty to see. The inventory is also 'fluid' - meaning point assignments change depending on what is deposited so what your 18 will get today is not the same as tomorrow.

There are still gems to be found plus you have the possiblity of ALL units available in RCI by combining your units.
All in all, not a bad thing.

GrayFal..... if I combine deposits how long do the "points" last? I have a 4 bedroom which locks out for 2 - 2 bedrooms and I usually deposit a 2 bedroom and then either use the other half, rent, or deposit it with another trading company.

24 months....so you have to time things right - you might deposit 2011 and 2012 at the same time and comibine all four units....depends on how soon you want to exchange.

I have two banked weeks expiring in August 2011, according to the combine weeks if I did the combining today these deposits would expire in November 2012. Since I have another very late depsoit waiting to be verified I will wait to do the combining to get the most bang for the buck. That will give me a deposit good for many more months with a total of 33 points. For 33 points I can see about 80% of the deposits. I consider that not bad for three very weak traders.

I respectfully disagree. There are gems and plenty of them in your range band and the one just above.

You've gotten good advice regarding the ability to combine for higher trading power.

I really do believe the dust is going settle with this latest "enhancement". Some of it makes absolutely no sense. Then again, that is expecting RCI to act logically.

What I meant is that it has now been confirmed that I cannot get the one exchange we want, not until 60 days before check-in, if then.

Look at SW FL for Jan-Mar and the handwriting is on the wall. (and it does not say Call 1-800-338-7777 for a good time.)

The starting of searches two years ahead, and confirming 18 months ahead is over.

There certainly is no incentive any longer to deposit early - but of course that can change again.

Well this is good news for me since i can never make up my mind til the last minute if I want to deposit or not. Most times it's not.

For our purpose, looking at our deposits and what we want for exchanges, the TPUs we get for depositing early are much less than the TPUs they want for even crappy units when we want them.

The TPUs we get for late deposits are about what they want for exchanges 60 days out and closer.

To repeat my recurring theme, the shame of it all is that I am talking about something we have been doing for 20 years, and can't now. . . but still have the same 1000s of dollars of obligations. Three maintenance fees bills arrived today . . . $1875.

I would also sign up for all the free membership independents and search them. You might find a gem there.

And that is going to impact the ability to use ff miles for fly to exchanges, not a user friendly move by RCI!

Life's not fair Jim. Alot of people can't do what they used to do anymore.
You're in good company and it's not only about TS's I"m talking.
But crying over spilt milk ain't gonna change it. Just grab one of those SW foreclosures before all the Europeans do. They're already buying up all the good deals. America is for sale and it's a fire sale.

This is so true. I have found great deals in DAElive. Usually last minute stuff but even better than RCI and II last minute stuff. I mean they will practically pay you to go.
