If y'all find anyone with SW FL in Jan/Feb, let me know.

For years I have posted that when it all goes to hell in a handbasket, we'll just walk away.

It would seem RCI's latest enhancement, piled on to the recession, will put a lot of uninvited presseure on resort (HOAs), as C has pointed out.

Perhaps they need a Dale Carnegie course . . . How to Win Friends and Influence People.

I just found a gem yesterday at DAE - 3BR in Midi-Pyrennes, France in August 2011, when I have 2 local holidays and so would be a good time to go. I had to debate with myself whether to change plans for a non-timeshare vacation I had planned for that period, and reluctantly let it go. I posted it on the exchange availibilites board here and hope someone else can use it.

Shhhhhhh. Maybe we better not spread the word about DAE or the stuff's gonna disappear there too.

Well, that was my theory with BR&C.

OY we called it the Loose What You Brag About Syndrome, or the T-G Kiss of Death.

But, of course, here we know that no one important is lurking.

          Are they?

            BR&C? Oh that place.
It's a dump. Truly people it's a total dump. Don't ever go there.
It's old and dingy and just a big dump. Nothing to do there.

I really, really dislike the new program. Things I could pull in the past are now out of reach for me. I know, I know, I can combine deposits. But for the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would want to do this, except maybe for a once in a lifetime trip scenario. Do I want to use up 2 MF's, combining fee and exchange fee to go somewhere I could always go for 1 MF plus my exchange fee? The answer is a definite NO. Maybe I'm missing something entirely, or am lacking a true understanding of the new mechanisms.

Like many others, we have always planned well in advance to take advantage of lower airfares, so LM exchanges hold little allure. One thing I can foresee is blue week owners dumpng their units because they can get nothing in the exchange pool. I know that many turn their noses up at us blue owners, but let's face it, most resorts have lots more blue weeks than red, so in essence, those owners help greatly in carrying the resort though slow months.

Searching now is no fun. I am very disallusioned with the whole thing.

I can not search anything as I have no deposits. I am turning in my Highlands of Sugar which will leave me with my points at Wyndham & my ORE/MROP so I really don't have to use RCI but because Wyndham pays for my membership I can use the last minute off season weeks which are cheaper than mf's.

I'm pulling out of RCI also. The week that used to get me good trades is now is rated a "17" and my points account is no longer what it used to be.

Fortunately, I like to occupy at my home resort or I will be able to trade with VRI and II.

My points resort is an Aussie xmas week, which I am going to list for sale with an Aussie realtor.

                  Goodbye RCI,

                  Maria

                    My feelings exactly.

When 15-20 years ago I told them I would be happy to give them two deposits to get one exchange, it was for what you are saying, that really special, once-in-a-lifetime resort or area. I was picturing something grand, like a Princeville Hotel type of resort.

Now if we want to do the exchanges we have been doing for 20 years, at the same distance out as we have been doing for 20 years, only to a crappier resort than we have ever accepted, we have to use two deposits.

If we can get it at all.

Perhaps there is an advantage to owning in points systems. One MF for points that can be used to create two or three deposits at RCI. Then combine the deposits for higher power searches.

As the dust settles I see the light, and will be searching for more of those fire sales at points systems via ebay.

I can understand why you are making this choice. Unless you happen to own what RCI is currently giving a high value, you are out of luck.

My approach is that I will treat my current 'free thru mini-system' RCI account as a points-type account. I will see how it works for me.

I am waiting anxiously to see how Bluegreen's "new" RCI relationship works out - but I am leaning more and more to pts/mini-systems/own where u want to go....
