  • RCI WEEKS System Issues Today

Just got off the phone with RCI tech support. RCI Weeks is down for BOTH reps and us little people. Anticipated to be back up for noon-ish.

Issues started last night apparently. At least they did for me. I have a week on hold and went online to confirm it. Error message said had trade power issue. Huh? It's already on hold! Anyway, tried online several times, gave up and called RCI. It was after hours of course so tried to confirm using the automated system (didn't even know that was an option!) - didn't work. Then tried to extend the hold (another option I didn't know existed) and that failed too. So I screen printed everything and went to bed.

This morning I tried to confirm online. No dice. Did a search and there was an identical week sitting online. Tried to get that istsead but ...nope. Called RCI, got a rep who said everything is down for them too but he'd transfer me to tech support in case my issue was unrelated to their other issues.

Tech support was able to confirm the hold, and it shows in my account, but for MORE trade power (confirmed at 8 vs. 7 on the hold). Huh? I said that even though it was "only" one credit higher I desperately need that credit as it's the credit that will allow me to extend 14 other credits that expire at the end of this month. He understood so tried to back out the transaction. He has seen that it was held for 7. When he tried to re-do the hold trade power jumped to 17! Then he backed out and re-did it several times and he told me that the trade power was jumping all over the place.

At the end he placed the unit on hold (although my account says it's still confirmed at TP 8) and he'll call me after the system is fixed (hahahaha!) and we'll straighten it out then.

So... all the wonderful sightings and such are not able to be really acted upon right now. And if you have anything in your account on hold, I strongly suggest screen printing it in case you need proof later on.

    I was just on.

Everything looked as bad as normal.

Did you try to hold or confirm an exchange? Everything looks fine (well, you know what I mean) until you get to that point.

I went up to that point, not wanting to risk going further.

It's not much of a risk because it isn't going to work.

I haven't been able to modify my ongoing search - I modify it, it searches, says the weeks I want aren't available (not true, btw, one of them is sitting there but I want to hold it without canceling the rest of my search just yet), then when I log back in it's still my original search. It's also duplicating all the resort numbers repeatedly.

System is back up. Not necessarily better, but back up.

Rep called me back as promised (I am beginning to like the tech reps!) and while he could not change the TPU cost on the confirmed exchange to 7 (as it should have been), he did add a deposit line worth 1 TPU to my account. I am where I should be.

Interestingly enough, the unit for my date with only the partial kitchen shows online - with a new TPU cost of 17. Quite a hike in cost! It was 6 yesterday.

Orlando is depleted for exchanges during my Spring Break week. RCI apparently has decided to make hay and has raised the prices of the few units left. Yes, there are plenty of rental units still on offer.

So for those of us that are watching units and hoping to catch them as prices fall, just remember that prices might jump up as inventory hits a certain low level. Kinda like airline tickets.

Really? won't you have to pay $99 to combine this with another deposit in order to use it? And it sounds like tpu increases as we search for, hold and confirm things.

Yes, it will cost me $99 to combo that deposit. But I was planning on combo-ing it anyway... I have 14 TPU leftovers from another deposit that expire in a few weeks and I needed just 1 TPU (or more would be ok but didn't work out that way) to be a 2nd deposit so I could do the combo. If this exchange had cost me 8 it would have depleted that 2nd deposit. I would have had nothing on deposit to combo the expiring 14 TPUs with.... I'd have had to let them die or pay $X to extend the deposit out the old way.

Yes, I have now seen where exchange TPU cost can go UP as well down. there's not been any discussion about that facet of the new system yet, until now.

No one said they're dumb. They know to charge more for what is wanted more. Ransom?

I think what they have been doing is tracking my searches for the last 13 years, then jacked them up.
