I rarely ever want to go the same place 2x, much less every year. But you fit that description often mentioned - "buy where you want to vacation" - so perfectly.

So . . .
Are you offering to buy our six TS weeks?

Since some here have complimented me (in a very round-about way ) over my ability to go with the flow and maximize whatever is sent my way RCI-wise (well, not exactly your words ), having had some time to evaluate what has been done to further adulterate their system, I intend to do exactly that, maximize.
I do not intend to attack the strength of the defense, but, rather, to take advantage of it's weaknesses.
It most likely will not involve them getting more money from us, and will most likely mean them getting less from us with which to make money off of others.
I fully expect that when large numbers start doing what I am going to do, RCI will change things again.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

RCI, or the vast majority of companies, doesn't give a squat about how long you've been a member, customer, etc. That's the way it is today.
............ moan over the good old days and do nothing to help oneself deal with the reality of today.
FWIW, I just got a ressie for Marco at Charter club and RCI didn't make a dime off of the reservation. So there are alternatives but YOU gotta change. Life's just way too short to keep on and on about the same thing.
Now is bargain time to get what you want where you want it. What are you waiting for? Boca can even get you enough BG points to live there year round and at a good price right now.

Week 1, Clearwater beach. No RCI and only $450 MFs.

To each their own.
We don't like Orlando at all, even though that's where it started for us, and nothing north of Siesta Key, or, maybe Longboat Key/Holmes Beach/Bradenton Beach/Anna Maria.
Really, nothing north of Manasota Key . . . I keep compromising north every year. Depends on winter or summer.
What one likes or wants is not a permanent thing, not a sensible reason for further ongoing comittment in something that cannot be relied on.
We'll make it work. There's ways.
It took my buddy all of 15 minutes looking at the new program to make the same decision I have. For those who have "lost", the decision is pretty easy, and those who "won" will eventually suffer because of it.
Look for a major overhaul in a couple of years, but, if you "won", enjoy it while you can. Carpe diem.

As for who came out ahead or behind (this time), it's still about 50/50. If each time they enhance, they screw over half their customers, well, figure it out.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

And as for screwing over half their customers, it appears that half have already left for greener pastures like the mini's. So the rest of us that remain have a choice to make. We can try to figure out how to play the game with the new rules or join another team. I'm not quite ready to walk away just yet since I'm still getting good value from playing on their team.

For me, the mini with the most places I would find actually appealing would be the granddaddy of them all, the original mini-system, Hapimag. But Hapimag would be useless for a Caribbean vacation or an occaisional week back in the states.
A mix of independent exchange companies seems the best bet. I might also buy an II resort, as well. II, and heck about any exchange company, is much more stable than RCI. One never knows what stunt RCI is going to pull next.

I have only deposited one of my 5 timeshares with RCI and thankfully it is also affiliated with II. After seeing the points they gave me for a 2BR summer near a national park that I have used to get 2BRs at DVC BCV, I will be trading through II. I much prefer II and my trades into Westin. Most of RCI is frankly trash to me. I think this may shoot RCI even more in the foot especially when my timeshares are all affiliated with II as well.

Now that I think about it, almost everyone came out behind, everyone but the very Top Dog, cuz everyone else has to give up more than one deposit for something.
Am I wrong, or did our Trading Power Tests, Sightings, Ex Ops, and sharing of information with each other over the last 15 years, not demonstrate that a fairly sizeable number of "Top Traders" could get everything? Has that group not now been greatly diminshed?
& so many, about 50%, appear to be saying they have to give up more than one deposit for stuff they useta get for one, and over a long period of time, year after year. To be fair, to not devalue large numbers of deposits in one fell swoop, would it not have been better, fairer, to require more than one deposit only for stuff better than what you were already getting with one?
That is not what they did.
Part of the Settlement Agreement is to provide historical data, past trades, and Trading Power information as to what it took to get them. This seems to go against that, but that information would confirm what I am pointing out.
If it looks like a duck. If it quacks like a dcuk . . . Looks and sounds like cryptic (and not too cryptic at that) price-gouging to me.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

If you have not yet voted, I would like to suggest you do #6 in this thread:
http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...-enhanced.html
Look at your exchange history and confirmed exchanges and see if there are any that you have done with one deposit that no longer can be done with that same (one) deposit.
For us that was very revealing. All of them (16 I believe) now require more than one, m/l doubling our price of doing what we've been doing.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick
