We need to be proactive and encourage our resorts to promote other exchanging options, and if not already dual affiliated, to dual affiliate with II.
Absolutely. And some realize this and have done what they can to do this. They further realize that what it is for today is what it is for today and getting the best out of what that is, is the smart thing to do.

It's not a popular notion with some to look back, but that's how we started more than 20 years ago. Different resorts now, but still are, and more.

Funny how many of the same things from back then still apply. Except for substituting II for RCI, and vice versa, our last tour with Wastegate was from the same cookie cutter as more than 20 years ago.

      Go figure.

PS: From what I've heard, what RCI does is in reaction to losing to other exchange programs, trying to compensate. What portion of what they do is because of that I haven't heard.

        Ahead

We came out ahead in several ways. The trade value for us is good and we end up with leftover points. The change also prompted us to start some exchanges with SFExchange which also looks like it will be a plus for us so we win all the way around. If RCI keeps changing so will we, to other companies.

That's sorta all over the place.

Good enough for you to use another company!

People seem to be discovering RCI's skimming all the time. Here is a thread from a European board on the subject:

If this was five years ago, people would be demanding a classaction lawsuit.

                  Anyone new?

Can you still get all the exchanges you have in the past, with one deposit, preferably the same one?

                    Mixed results

My Southern CA June week is valued higher than expected, so I would get change back from trades I have previously made with it. My Island Park mid summer is not valued as highly as I expected based on what i was pulling before points lite. My central Texas weeks are undervalued and trade better in II, which is not anything new.

I would expect a SOCAL June Week to be at least in the 40's. One of the highest before, and it should still be.

Curious . . . are there any exchanges it cannot now get? Do you have the same count with it in both modes, Available with the Deposit & All Available Exchanges.

I ask because I have 10 years of comparing with SOCAL deposits, and my deposits always matched them.

So, maybe the answer is no, there are exchanges you cannot now get with one.

But the No count stayed the same and the Yes count went up one.

                      Hmmmmmmmm?!

Actually, to answer that myself, those of us who have been involved in Trading Power Tests, and Sightings and Ex Ops, know that under the old system, a June week at a SOCAL resort, say a GPP one, could see everything available.

A June 2 bedroom at Carlsbad Inn is 44, which means it cannot get all exchanges any more.

How do you know you were seeing 100% of available units? How do we know we are now? It's more transparent but we still don't see what goes on behind the scenes with ongoing searches and with units held back for regional member- RCI NA vs RCI Europe. A 44 can get everything in Pacific Coast (California, Nevada, Washington). The only thing it can't get in Hawaii is a New Years studio at Kahana Falls. Everything in Florida can be had for 44 points or less. The Manhattan Club is over 44 but I have a feeling that its rating went up during the change (because it wasn't being punished for the temp overstock due to bulk deposits?). There are also 2 New York State summer weeks with TP over 44 but I don't know that they were on anyones radar to check your Trading Power strength. I think a person with a 44 might well have thought they were seeing everything, especially considering quality filters and resort priority (which pretty much seems like a thing of the past).

My deposits range from 10-34. I'm happy with what I can get with my 34. If places are higher I check to see if I can get it cheaper with points doing a work around. The Summit at Gore Point August week which has been sitting in Weeks inventory for awhile at 47 can be had for 49500 points much more affordable for me than combining deposits + $99 fee.

                          • Through searching with a significant number of other owners, and comparing notes, those actively researching what we own with others for the last 12 years or so, know what we know. (knew what we knew )

I have a friend here who owns prime SOCAL coastal, and toward the end, he could see a few hundred more than me, based on 160,000-ish total.

I was comparing with a GPP owner way before they started their SOCAL cartel, and we played around with it.

I suspect that anyone that did the hours and hours of comparing that those who did did, know what I'm saying, and those who didn't can't fully appreciate it.

So, using a good SOCAL trader, how many can you see with just it, and how many under All Available?

Congrats, you are among the fortunate few.

Or, you trade into one of my ballyhooed 2-bedroom Gold Crowns five times, with 4 points left over.

                                Have a lot of fun.
