  • Not I. The 44 was for the summer SoCal week from your post. I just counted the units across the board above 44. My current deposits are: 9, a late deposit from 10- more than its worth (but before the change I traded into a better week at the same resort that would now be a 15); 22, a late deposit from 23-disappointing won't be depositing that with RCI unless its upgraded (deposited before the rollout); 34- its a float holiday week but a non holiday week would get 27- worth more in RCI than anywhere else; and an 8 left over from an old deposit- was happy with what I got so if I ever use the 8 on a last minute trip it will be a bonus.

For now there is still a decent supply of 2 bdrms where and when I'm willing to travel but the new system really rewards prime time studios and 1 bdrms (which would have the best MF to TP ratio) so eventually the 2 bdrms will dry up and while I am occasionally willing to trade for 2- 1 bedrooms at certain locations where I know 2 bedrooms are scarce, eventually I will need to look beyond RCI more often. Many of the independents are discouraging studios and 1 bedrooms by requireing upgrade fees to trade into larger units even if you are downgrading in season or unit quality (baseing like for like on unit size only). It is not as if they reduce the exchange fee or reward the larger deposit who trades into a smaller unit.

    • The key is not so much what is currently availible at those numbers but what is assigned those numbers. The really rare stuff almost never makes it online, but is picked up in an ongoing search. The glut of winter Manhattan Club that is availible online shows that at least that season in that resort is overpointed.

      • JLB, to answer your question, there are 44 units in the online inventory that my SoCal 2BR June deposit cannot see. Sally correctly described their distribution (Manhattan Club, Coastal S. Carolina summer, etc). I used to be able to pull studios with this week at Manhattan Club, so I got downgraded there or MC got upgraded, but most weeks I would have traded for in Hawaii for example I would now get change back. Not so for my other deposited weeks, and I am sure I will end up paying the $99 and combining those TPIs at some point.

It's nice to be able to share.

          • I definitely, hands down do not benefit from the changes. Of course I could get 1*, 2* resorts and MAYBE 2 bedroom if I want to go to Northern Idaho in February.

RCI has spoiled me in the past. I want my 5* 2+ bedroom resorts BACK!!
I own at a floating week resort. I choose my "redweek" 2 years in advance. So I'm stuck two years out with a crummy "redweek". Apparently, any week in August will give me my highest trading power of 33. Bullocks! Didn't do my homework on the new changes and silly me, I chose a REDWEEK instead of RED, RED, RED double the RED RED week.

            10 year member as well.

                No secret insider advice?

I knew it. They found me out... My one bedroom, junky condo purchased in 89- exchanged for 2 bedroom Hilton Hawaiian Village... I knew it would end one day...I'm glad I took advantage for the last several years

                    • So, do I understand this correct? Owners are happy that they can combine two of their weeks to get a trade they want.

But before the RCI switch, they could have used only one week to get the same outcome?

For me to combine 2 weeks would mean $900 in maintenance fees +$179 +$99+membership. Why wouldn't I just use vrbo and rent what I want, where I want, when I want for around the same price? minus the endless time wasted on RCI searches- it's taking up my facebook time.

You're way behind the curve here

I have pointed out that for some of the exchanges we have gotten with one exchange in the past it will now costs us as much as $2800.

That does not hit home with some, from what I can pick up, because they are tired of hearing talk about it. I would guess, also, because it doesn't apply to them.

The unofficial poll is running 50/50, and I really think it is worse than that, so I really believe those complaining about the complaining are out of order. I really believe the new program is much worse for the consumer than we have uncovered thusfar.

If you can't point out timeshare facts on a timeshare forum, so that others, say yourself, have them available, where can you?

I still sense you're pushing my leg, that you know more than you are pretending to.

This is what one exchange costs.

                          Previously: $479-$779

Here is where I put Weeks Points into perspective, as it relates to us.

I am not opposed to being able to combined weeks to get one exchange. I could come up with a letter to Kenneth May from ten years ago where I asked to be able to do that. I asked to do it as long ago as the early 90's.

Of course, we wished to be able to do it for an occasional super-special exchange, like give up two deposits to get a Gold Crown on the beach in January, or a special vacation to Hawaii.

I did not intend that almost every exchange we have gotten for one deposit the past ten years, and the only ones we desire, should now cost us between two and four deposits. But that's how it worked out.

I have also said . . . just give us two weeks a year, the same as the past 20 years, and I'll shut up. I'm not greedy and that's much to ask.

Oh yeah, just got the new Resort Directory. At least one of our resorts, the one with the least Points to deposit, is still a Gold Crown.
