I was looking ahead 12 months, and it just gets worse for our resort, 18 TPUs if I deposit, 27 TPUs to exchange back in.

The quality of the structures is rated "3-Fair", on a scale with 1 being the lowest and 6 being the highest. The structures are much older than those dates, but the original construction dates are not available online.
So, the real questions here are "how much is too much for a week in what is essentially a motel that is well over 30 years old and of substantial quality?"

In order to keep the promises that have been made to all of use, economical luxury vacations at prices lower than the public pays, RCI needs to at least attempt to keep the real cost of exchanges lower than non-owner general public types pay for the same thing.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Different location, same problem
I've been watching this thread and looking to compare it regarding where I own, up here in the tundra. I picked up a 1 bedroom red week 7 ownership for free a few years ago, and have been able to exchange it for prime summer weeks in the past. For example, I was able to parlay 3 week 7s into 3 July 4th weeks - all in 2 bedroom units - to have a nice family vacation together this year. Those 3 trades took place over a course of 9 months last year.
Since November, such a trade will be impossible, even at my home resort, through RCI. My week 7 has a 12 TPU if 2 years out, but to book a July 4th week I'd have to pay 28-35 tpus. That's roughly double what the resort rents a 2 bedroom unit for the same week. And they don't charge an additional (exchange) fee, which in this case would almost equal an additional night's rent.
Looks like I won't be depositing future weeks with RCI.Jeanne

This is an example of the Biggest Losers, the 8 to 12 pointers that are not good for anything except for plain Janes in the next 30 days.
That is why I have another poll, in which I suggest all deposits made during the max trade power period be allowed to get anything in the next 45 days after deposit. That would give the good traders close to two years to skim the cream, but still make it true that anything can possibly get anything . . . cancellations, late deposits, rentals that did not rent, etc.
Frankly, this is one of my better ideas from over the last 20 years, and one they should put into effect immediately, before all of the air leaks out of the ball.
Maybe someone on the inside will put it in the suggestion box.

The poll is telling . . . As many have to ante up more as do not. When you think about it, to get just one exchange, no one antes up less than before, cuz before you could either get something with one deposit, or not. Some will benefit by being able to get more than one exchange, but I'm guessing not many.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

This morning an 8 will get 65000 of 174000 exchanges.
So 109,000 exchanges will take more than one deposit. If the average is as folks say (18-20), an average exchange will take three deposits.
For our 8, a 2-bedroom Gold-Crown with a $625 fee, an average exchange costs more than $2000.
Before, in the day, an exchange never took more than one deposit, of course, and our worst deposits could always get more than 100,000. So, 116110 appears to have reduced the number of 1-for-1 exchanges.
The beauty of the good ole days, being ignorant, the lack of disclosure, is that you never knew what you didn't know, but the price was reasonable.
FWIW, our once much bally-hooed Gold Crownie, once the pride and joy of RCI, once much bragged about, now has a big billboard at the entrance to the gated community it's in saying, "Timeshare weeks $2200-$6700."

I don't see that I ever said exactly what we can and cannot get with one deposit now that we previously did. So, here it is.
Of our last 16 exchanges, the ones I can see when I check our history online, we cannot get any of them now with one deposit.
For the period 1992 through 2005, for the exchanges I kept a record of, we can still get 27 of them with one deposit, but we cannot get 19 with one deposit. That was a different era, mostly to lesser resorts with lesser traders than we now own.
So, for 62 exchanges I have a record of, we cannot now get 35 of them with one deposit, even though we now own better traders than we used for many of them.
It would be nice, let's say fair, if RCI would mention that in their hype, that some exchanges now take more than one deposit, instead of pretending every exchange will be with one deposit and will wind up with a deposit credit.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

While it is clear they have moved the goalposts, some clearly came out better, some worse, and some even. RCI claimed they were not monkeying around with values, but like other similar situations, they were clearly not telling the truth.
Owning multiple weeks one can see the difference. It used to be that my summer UK weeks were my tiger traders, as they should be since that is a very high demand and low supply time and location. My summer OBX week, which used to be a good trader but not as good as the UK, still does fine and now trades substantially better than the UK weeks. The value relationships changed and did so in a very nonsensical way.

As with resort designations, the assigning of values opens up the door for politics and favortism, something they have never denied and often practiced.
