      I'm not bragging just sharing.
I hope those weeks do sell so we don't have any troubles with our HOA. I don't see how sharing that info is bringing the curse of death on my resort. I'm not advocating buying to trade, quite the opposite. Buy to use. You don't need RCI or any other exchange if you buy to use. Since you're already settling for converted motels, you'd feel right at home.

I wonder how many thousands are searching every morning for the year after next, just because that's what they have done for 13 years, now knowing they will 99% likely not take anything?

The odds I'll take it are remote,
        Even if they have boat.
Even if the beach is wide,
        With a sunset at eventide.
I would not, could not see us go,
To the same place for twice the dough.

I think they should consider themselves lucky that for soooooooo many years they were truly blessed to be able to take advantage of a system that was obviously flawed.

Even I, as an uneducated TS owner purchased something that was in a decent location and something that I could use, not trade. The trading was way secondary to my decision to purchase. I really didn't even know about trading when I purchased. I learned that from you guys.

I just wanted a hedge against inflation on my yearly beach vacations which is what I got. $450 for a week at the beach in a 2 bedroom is a bargain and my reason for purchasing. The fact that RCI will give me 20 points is truly a secondary consideration.

My resort is on ebay for $1.00, so JLB, now is your chance to be on the sand for $450 a week. Enchanted Isle Hollywood FLORIDA RED Timeshare For Sale - eBay (item 370462537305 end time Dec-10-10 19:00:33 PST)
If you call the resort they'll give you a list of all the FSBO's. But if you watch ebay you'll see if come up. I bought both weeks on ebay.
You are absolutely right in probably 97% of cases.

I've seen a couple of flaws that I could drive a Mack truck through if I had the inclination. People that have been paying very close attention to RCI Ex-ops might have picked up on a couple of them, or maybe not, but I certainly did point 2 or 3 of them out on contributing member only forums .

                Common sense:

Think of all the owned weeks in the entire system, where the big numbers of them are.

How many do you think got jilted relative to how many got annointed with grace . . . in the entire system? 10 to 1? 50 to 1? 100 to 1? 500 to 1?

Take a look at the areas with the really huge number of timeshares, the nice resorts, and plug some weeks in the calculator.

C'mon, what do y'all think the spurned are going to do?

Somewhere down the line someone is gonna be looking for work when the dust settles.

                JMHO.

Just wondering why you feel that vacations are an entitlement?
It's not a right, it's a privilege you've been blessed with for a very long time.
I'm glad you were given that privilege but it's just not fair for you to bite the hand that has fed you so well for so long.

If I were you, I would have been thanking the RCI gods for all the years of your good fortune.

How many people can say that they've been as blessed as you've been?
I know many people who feel that a weekend at a motel in Kissimmee is a vacation blessing.

I guess it's all in your perspective, isn't it?

Along the same lines, but relating to attracting more owners, if prospects are given full disclosure, it seems they now have more reason not to buy. Thinking about those who know nothing about this. If they really understand. & again, referring to the big number places, where the bulk of timeshares are and new owners are coming from.

I realize that there is wriggle room, a way for marketing to continue to mislead and deceive, but, at the point in time when folks finally realize what they have bought and what it takes to get what the sales weasel said they could, it seems like the angst will be even angstier.

Hmmm! RCI as a cargo cult! No wonder some will sit back and take whatever RCI dishes out in self-serving changes, rentals of exchange deposits, or whatever.

I do believe that you have just named the one group that may suffer more than the typical RCI exchange member or HOA in the brave new world.

                              Steve:

I was just thinking about you, how you (especially) and I, and a very few others have fought the good fight for a long time, and how we have now become the maligned OFs in the eyes of the very few who have been annointed.

I don't mean to put anyone down (really), but there is much to be said about staying the course, about experience, about developing a keen sense, about being able to extrapolate future results, that some have not developed.

The problem is that RCI's new Points Lite turns ''location, location, location'' on its head to overpoint overbuilt Orlando resorts, some in beach areas that are miles off the beach, and such while shortchanging some key areas in Europe and other places. RCI will never see my summer southern England weeks at resort that almost never shows up online any time of the year thanks to their numbers racket that has moved the goal posts. I am sure than SFX and DAE will be quite happy to get them every year from here on. Although my points lite numbers are rather respectable at my OBX summer week (upper 40s), they also will not get that one either. I would rather rent it myself than wonder if RCI is going to misappropriate it to rent it themselves rather than giving it to an exchanger.

I have looked at too many of the very hardest to trade into areas that RCI underpoints and then somethink like Vacation Village at Parkway that they give away point lite like candy to. It makes me puke. No, location does not have a darn thing to do with RCI's numbers racket.
