  • HOA's need to monitor points lite numbers in and out

For years, the term ''sold out resort'' has had a sinister double meaning with RCI Points numbers, and now that the numbers for Points Lite are public it is the same there.

But HOA's need to monitor the points lite numbers to catch RCI in its patterns of underpointing. When a resort in general or the high season at a resort consistently requires more points lite to trade in than members get for depositing it at the same point in time, then RCI is cheating its members on trading power, and the HOA needs to 1) scream like a banshee to RCI demanding fairness, 2) open negotiations with II and dual affiliate, 3) once they get dual affiliated, let its members know in detail how RCI is hosing them.

Hopefully, this will force RCI to reform its malpractices, and if not it will help migrate members to a rival exchange company.

Interesting post. I must admit I suspect that Wyndham is more than happy to see my fixed weeks at Kingsgate get dissed on the TP value, when a 70k point "red studio" is worth more than my 1BR, 2BR or 3BR fixed week.

        It works as it should

I checked both resorts I am privileged to serve on the HOA Board for and the values being given are both in the top 1/3 (over 45 points) for top season and over 30 for lower season (at the Cove the bottom 10 weeks are around 20) so they are very good. No complaints from me nor should there be from owners as those values will get them almost anything they want and are, IMO, very fair.

No rush to leave RCI from thes resorts. In fact it may solidify their standing with owners as it's easier to use now and they are getting excellent values.

Why do you call the new weeks program Points Lite?

When I search RCI online for - points lite
Search Results do not recognize this term
No Results match the query. - points lite

Because ''Weeks'' is no longer a weeks based program. ''Points Lite'' is as good a name as any and is more descriptive of its true nature.

So RCI gives low season Orlando, which are a dime a dozen, more points lite than summer UK, which is scarce as hens teeth? It is easy to see where RCI put its thumb on the scales, and it is also easy to see why those in overbuilt areas like RCI's shananigans so much. Is your second resort on Cape Cod?

I posted one of those in RCI Exchange Opportunities today. Hefty exchange "fee" of 34 for a 1BR summer Cape Cod, mid-August and not on the beach. The owners should be thrilled. What is the TPU offer to deposit?

We seem to get a lot for it and need to give a lot to get it. That's sounds like a good balance.

It is except Cape Cod took a solid hit back in May and even with those lofty numbers can't see Manhattan Club any more without combining.

The summer weeks seem to be in line. It is his report on off season weeks both places that raises eyebrows, especially when compared to resorts that are extremely hard to get any time of the year.
