Wow! With all the poo-poo I've been taking from the chosen few, I was beginning to think I was the only one!!!

I could say more, but enough has been said that those paying attention don't need to hear more.

Please, could others do this, check their past trades and report? It could be important.

Would someone respected OY post a link to this thread?

JLB, you know I just love bustin' your chops.
I see why you are upset.

Fortunately for me I've not put my weeks in RCI often enough to see the abuse, I just use my stuff. I'm a Janey come lately to exchanging. Really only started doing it since I met you guys.
Before that it was buy to use.

Now RCI points is another story. Theyr'e messin' with that too and it ain't pretty there either but not as bad as what you weeks owners are enduring.
I still see some nice stuff. Maybe there are fewer RCI points owners than weeks owners so it seems there is more inventory in RCI points and it's bookable with less than a year's MF's for the most part.

            Care to share more details?

How many past exchanges? Where and when? How much to trade in?

What type of deposits? Where and when? How many TPUs to deposit?

You don't have to be specific.

I have a 2 bedroom lockout that converts to 2 x 1 bedrooms in RCI exchange, each one assigned 19 TPU's. We always used these to give us a 2 week vacation.
I've only exchanged 3 times, the results as follows are using the new TPU rating system.

2007) 2 weeks (studio) at Pelican resort, St Maarten (same time frame) 14 points per week
2008) 2 weeks (1 bedroom) Morrits Tortuga, Grande Cayman (same time frame) 12 points per week
2009) 2 weeks (2 bedroom) Wyndam Kona Hawaiian Village, Big Is. Hawaii (same time frame) 28 - 32 points per week

Of those above the Wyndam Kona is the only one I really want to go back to but it may be a struggle under the new system of TPU's

                    Thanks for checking.

If one doesn't trade into peak time, or takes advantage of bulk deposits . . . Of the ones of ours I mentioned, yeah, we can still get some of the downtrade, off-season ones 1-4-1 (with better traders than we owned then).

                    However . . .

Pelican only has two studios for 14. Peak is 29.

                    Morritt's is Morritt's.
A peak 1-bedroom, without bulk devaluation, is 24.

Let's not forget RCI's hype "combine deposits to get better trades than you could before." That's in writing, that's what combining deposits is supposed to be for, according to them.

What I am noticing is the amount of available inventory is decreasing quickly at resorts whilst the "other matching units" inventory is growing. Could it be that resort owners are trading down at there own resorts to give them outstanding points to use for extra holidays elsewhere?

That would be fine with RCI since it would earn them two exchange fees. Or folks could be grabbing stuff they can get with one deposit, like the old days 2 months ago.

One of my former tigers is no longer with RCI, so I can't make comparisions there. But my other tigers, south of England summer weeks, have been seriously declawed. They do not pull most of the exchanges I have made with them on a one for one basis. My SA weeks, if I took the same flexi week I did in the past would not pull what I traded for with them, but if I am lucky and can nail down the best flexi weeks for them, then they come out even. I will have to see how that goes, as I expect everyone will be after just two or three weeks. My summer OBX weeks gets a pretty good allotment of points lite, but I either use it or rent it. Next year, I will be on an exchange elsewhere during that week and no family member was in a position to use it, so it is already listed with the local OBX rental broker.
