I just signed up for tHe weeks program but know that most times even with the last call vacas, we won't use the whole week but rather do a wed-sat or Sunday stay. Is that allowed? If I book for sat-sat, can I check in wed or thurs? So confused already.

Yes you can check in late or leave early. On checking in late, one should call the resort about a week ahead of time and tell them when you will be checking in and confirm that they have noted that on your reservations. You don't want to be a no call, no show for two or three days, they will probably assume you are not coming and rent out your unit.

Also . . .
Resorts have different check-in days.
Originally, it was Sat-Sat. Then Fri and Sun at some. In the last ten years some have opted for hotel/motel style with daily check-in, check-out.
Most in Weeks are still Sat-Sat, though.

It's easier to take the first part of the week yourself, then give the key to your friend/relative for the latter part.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick

Call or email them a couple of weeks before check-in to find out if they will enforce that or not.

None of this applies for the week you own, if you decide to use it rather than to exchange.RCI Member Since 24-Aug-1989/150-plus Exchanges***THE TIMESHARE GRIM REAPER~~~Exchanging/Searching/SW Florida/MO/AR/IA/Consumer Advocacy/Estate Planning/Sports/Boating/Fishing/Golf/Lake-living/Retirement****Sometimes ya just gotta be a dick
