Why do they always kill the GOOD call centers? The reps at New Brunswick are knowledgable and always have a such a good attitude. I realize that it is staying open for now but 300 less reps is not a good thing

So they're going to replace 300 trained people with 100 newbies.

I'm not sure I follow that logic unless it's much cheaper to employ in Indiana than Canada. Why not just lay off 200 in Canada? I'm sure they could introduce shift work to cater to any time zone.

      RCI logic.

Because new people get starting wages. Experienced people have gotten raises over the past few years. But, firing and rehiring at one place is messy, so you fire in once place, and hire in another.

Plus, while the web site still has plenty of warts, it does keep getting a bit better each year in terms of usefulness. Plus, all the Wyndham owners just got their online portal. All together, I would not be surprised to hear that call volume is going down.

Well, duh, RCI calls going down.

          Why might that be?

Sorta related, when it was time for me to go back to my little seasonal job a couple years ago, they did not take me back. However, 2 new people started at 50 cents an hour less.

(I went elsewhere for 50 cents an hour more, at a better place, and am still there . . . I think.)

So sad! I don't call very often, but the few times I've been routed there they were great!

When I absolutely had to, Ireland was my favorite.

As I've mentioned, last year Guides got our account so screwed up accounting couldn't even figure it out. They and I agreed on a figure, and we went from there.

Some of the things we have been asking for for years, like being able to use existing account credits online, were finally implemented late last year. I still don't think you can see all existing credits until you get to the payment page on-line, and it gives you an option to use them or give them new money. So, you still have to try to keep track yourself, and keep a record in case you need it.

On the occasions that I had to use the call centre, I was always happy if I had the good fortune to be connected to new Brunswick. The guides were always polite and knowlegeable, and willing to work with me to find the exchanges I wanted.

                    RCI Call center is closing.

There is a thread about this on TUG. The OP is an RCI guide at the New Brunswick Center. The 300 people being terminated are all the RCI guides including the OP.

"The other 600 employees are not RCI guides, they work in other divisions such as - Wyndham Hotel reservation, Wyndham Rewards, Wyndham Technical support and Distribution division. RCI will no longer be serviced out of this office"

They claim that they are moving it to be in a more central time zone. New Brunswick Canada is in the Atlantic Time zone which is 4 hours ahead of the Pacific time zone. Here is their quote.

"An RCI spokesperson said their clients want more service in their local time zone, so they're moving 100 jobs to Indianapolis."

It seems strange as there is only one hour difference. as Indianapolis is in the Eastern Time zone.

Yeah, that hits pretty high on the BS meter. I do wish they weren't doing this - maybe RCI didn't like the customer friendly approach at NB

The Canadian office was always my favorite office... so helpful and pleasant to talk to! Very sad to read this!
