  • How long does it take for a deposit to turn up in RCI?

I called my resort and asked them to make a deposit on Friday. They said it could take...I can't remember. I think they said something crazy like a week to 10 days to turn up in RCI.

In the past, it seems like it didn't take nearly that long. It's not in there now. When should I start to worry?

When I call RCI and give them the deposit, it shows up immediately as "pending verification" and then it can take 2-3 days to 2 weeks to turn from pending status to a deposit.

Why did u call the resort and not RCI?

If it is a week that is already associated with your RCI account it shouldn't take more than 2 business days.

After you made the res at your resort and told them to deposit did you also do the RCI side? If you did you should already see it "pending".

Aaagggh! Freaking out, just checked the deposit calculator. Deposit would have been a 23 on Friday...now it's a 17! Yowtch! And RCI's phone number isn't working, of course.

            Ah!!!! . . . . for the good old days . . . last year.

FWIW, any time you call someone to do something that you can do yourself (if you can do it yourself), expect it to be done worse than if you did it yourself.

No one knows about or cares about you more than you.

(Although on the Internet . . . and in real life . . . there will always be those who think they know better what is best for you. But more so on the Internet.)

Oh, god forbid. It wouldn't matter to RCI anyway.

Okay, all fine. I called the resort and they said they could stop the deposit. Now they're just holding the week till I decide what to do.

For 17 points, it's not worth putting it in RCI. At 23, I had my exchanges all made in my head.

I can't answer for Wacky but one of my new ownerships requires the resort to do the deposit. I call the resort and tell them to make the deposit and they do. This first time things didn't go too well and after a week nothing was showing in my RCI acct. I called RCI and they said they had nothing showing at all and that I did indeed have to work thru the resort. Another call to the resort did get whatever was wrong resolved and the deposit showed up that afternoon. It's a hassle but it gives a really good TPU cost point.

Quilter is correct--this resort asks you to start with the resort. Lawren is also right, that I should have called RCI after I called the resort, to alert RCI that the deposit was coming.

However...I suspect that RCI would have given me the 17 rather than the 23, no matter when I alerted them, b/c the deposit would not have "hit" until this week, when the TPU had dropped like a stone.

I lucked out that the resort seems to have made a mistake and didn't put the deposit through.

Inadvertently, you have summarized what RCI has done to itself, what some of us have been saying.

At that point in time, Post 5 here shows what 18 cannot get:

                        http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...-deposits.html

I did not editorialize there, but those destinations that are most used to sell RCI, to get people to buy, are the least available at 18.

I always have to call because I own a float week. As insurance I generallly do both sides. After I get my information I deposit "on-line" in RCI.

As it turned out, in this case it was a good thing I didn't call RCI.

Not necessarily because you would have had a "marker". I have had problems in the past and they have always given me the initial deposit date no matter how long it took.
