Do They Watch?

Some neophytes have doubted that, that Internet timeshare forums are monitored by the exchange companies, and others in the industry, who make changes as a result.

Those on the other side have said they do, but sometimes there is tangible evidence. For instance, in my Unfairness posts, I have pointed out exchanges that cost more than the owners get credited for depositing.

Since I search the same thing every day, and have since rci.com began, 1997 (which I did until November, 2010, to try to get exchanges, and since just for curiosity), I find the changes.

Generally speaking, as in my real life, right is right, and anything less is wrong.

Not only do they watch, but it is likely that they participate under the radar.

I know that on FlyerTalk, for example, some of the major Delta defenders have been identified as spouses of Delta executives. Probably the biggest Delta defender of all, in volume of posts, even outted himself as a major Delta shareholder.

I strongly suspect that RCI has been up to the same game, although more so OY than here. It has been very interesting to see the number of people who have registered OY since Points Lite became public knowledge and who have oddly become full fledged defenders of all things RCI, but especially Points Lite. Granted, that there are indeed real people who defend RCI regularly on some or even all points OY, but the number of newbies who joined the usual suspects during the runup to Points Lite has been real interesting.

Well, we know that they have looked in from time to time and stopped one VC from posting, so I would not be at all surprised if they are looking more now since the class action suit. Unfortunately, their viewing would not be for the purpose of improving their service.

But, he/she definitely was violating the don't tell the truth in public agreement.

Oh yeah, as to the point of divergence, whether RCI monitors these forums and makes changes because of what is said:

I'm almost afraid to say it, but this mornig there is some signs of fairness.

Some adjustments.

There's still a shortage of quality, and a premium for it.

Of course, fairness is relative.

In this case it means being able to get a crappy studio with a luxury 2-bedroom Gold Crown.

But, it's better than not even being able to get a crappy studio at all.

This shows that I am adaptable, open to change, that I can show some amount of satisfaction by being able to get less with more. I would say that comes from my years of daily searches, watching stuff dwindle away, so that I have been beaten into submission by increasingly lower expectations.
