    ladydi,
In general Mexican resorts are usually not the best exchangers with RCI and you own at one of the better ones. Some holiday weeks may be the exception. There are several gold crown resorts in Mexico and travel to that area has been down the last 3 -5 years. Red season in Mexico is everything except the month of September. Unless you are a skiier, most of New England is only really prime time for 10 weeks a year. RCI may "cook the books" but sales people who tell you that any red gold crown resort can trade with any other red gold crown resort are lying. RCI does apply their own version of like for like (based on their own standards). They don't claim one deposit in can get you anything out. Dial and Exchange does but for every really good deposit in you have 100-500 so-so to dog deposits in fighting for the one good deposit.

RCI doesn't work for many people and it probably will never work for you but since you already have a deposit in you need to do your best to get something of value out of it or let it expire and move on. In general I like what I can get out of RCI but I have resorts that I have never or will never deposit again in RCI.

So that there is no misunderstanding, no misconstruing of things I have said, RCI still is the best source for many locations, and in many cases there is fairness. The are best in common, overbuilt locations such as, but not only, Orlando, Williamsburg, Branson, etc.

But, even at their best, you gotta be careful dealing with them, try to do as much as you can yourself, online, and in those times when you have to rely on a Guide, be sure to confirm online that they did what they were supposed to do.

Over the years, feedback and Customer Service have been attentive and work hard to straighten things out, but they are no better than your knowledge of what you are doing.

I go over to the extra weeks and sure enough there is 1,000 plus that I can buy once again for a huge price for one week. So that still leaves me with my week to use. Why in the world would I pay again for another week that is already paid for. I just want to trade my week. Isn't that what timesharing is all about?? I dont' get why there is an inventory for me, which is crap, and another inventory that I can purchase from??? Just doesn't make sense to me. If you have it available why can't I use it? I think it seems pretty simple. Now you got this trading power, which to me is another scam. So they would rather see that week go unused instead of putting it in my inventory? Does it make sense to anyone out there????
The week you are depositing is in a NON prime season in Mexico. Both of these factors makes for very low trading power. That is why you won't see anything. As far as RCI's rental weeks go, that is another story that others can beat to death.

For instance, something we used to do up til 13 years ago, was take a Spring Break to an Ozarks lake, for us, friends and family.

I can get a 3-bedroom in Horseshoe Bend, AR for one deposit, with a 15 point carry-forward. For free, too, because of our Elite Rewards credit.

Anyone wanna golf at Turkey Mountain?

          Whoo Hoo!

Our friends have a better inventory than us. They own a week in Dubois, Pennslyvania in the middle of no where at some 1970's resort that is in need of repairs. No one ever trades into this resort because of the conditions. So how do they get a better inventory than us? Their resorts is probably a 2. So none of this makes sense to me. It isn't like they own a prime time week. Like I said before if its in the inventory let everyone see it. DOn't see what the big deal is. Thats what a scam is. getting you to buy in and not letting you have the week you would like, oh if you pay more you can have it. Scam, scam scam
