  • Help with RCI TPU & RCI Points

I have a question about the new system in RCI. If I have a resort with 50 TPU and I need 25 for the exchange I want, does that mean I could get 2 units with my 50 point week?

Also, is it possible to have a week that exchanges both into RCI weeks the traditional way to get the 50 TPU and also be able to exchange it into RCI points? I found a week for sale and this is what the seller has said. I own 3 other RCI weeks but have never used RCI points so don't understand that system. TIA!!

Yes, kind of, you could make 2 exchanges, the 1st would give you Change of 25tpu, that you could use for the next.

If a week is a week, then it can't be RCI points unless you have an RCI points week and account. If it is in points, then It can't be a week. I think this seller may have confused themselves about these systems.

In answer to your first question. Yes. If you have a week that is seposited and you receive 50TPU then you can exchange for as many weeks as you like for up to that 50 points. I'm seeing Disney Trades dancing around in your head for some odd reason. Although I don't follow along too closely they do tend to average around 26 each week.

and Yes you could have a resort that may have a week that would reward you in 50tpu and also have the ability to do a PFD (points for deposit) if you chose but I haven't seen many that would be at both.

Ok, that 2nd part is what I was hoping. It isn't "wow" with RCI points and I don't plan to use the RCI points option but was worried if it had that option it wouldn't have the week TPU option. And yes, DVC is my goal until DVC switches back to II....someday....

        Thank you!!

I am going to venture into the waters myself, and see if this even applies to me. Since I own with BlueGreen and not RCI does this TPU stuff even apply to me?

Guess what I am wondering is if it is worth it for me to make a reservation a book a week, that I could potentially deposit to RCI and get a week somewhere else.

On another note, if I were considering getting an actual RCI resort, where does one find out the TPU values for various times and resorts?

I own a unit that can be used as either TPU's or RCI points.

For me it's more profitable usually do do a PFD with the week to RCI points but maybe because I'm just more versed in how to maximize my RCI points.

In order to do a PFD you have to already own an RCI points week somewhere. You cannot do PFD with a week in a resort that is already converted to RCI points so with alot of the older resorts you can do PFD but as Lawren has pointed out to me in the past, all it takes is one salesperson to sell RCI points at any resort for the PFD option to be taken away.

The game is always changing so just keep that in mind.

I don't think you can reserve a week anymore to deposit to RCI, I believe that has changed to a grid system but the BG people can jump in and correct me if I'm wrong. I think you can still do that with SFX and II though.

Tom, if you own a week or are considering a week, I can check the potential TPU's for you with the deposit calculator in my weeks account. Let me know what week you own or are considering buying.

Are you asking me for something in particular?

Not buying ANYTHING else. With almost $5000 a year in maintenance fees I have more than I can handle. Somewhat of a TimeShare junkie, without all the knowledge I should have gotten.

Have points with BlueGreen and SVC as well, so looking at making some reservations and just trying to maximize my potential and minimize my losses.

Well we may be able to work something out.

Don't feel bad about being a TS junkie.
We're all pretty much addicted as well.

My MF's are a little shy of you but not by much. I've been pairing down a little but like a true junkie, I get rid of one and add another.

I think I really need to get some help.
Hanging around here is not helping.

So I guess these TPU's thing is strictly an RCI thing from what I gather. With Blue Green I think that mostly Boyne, Hershey, and Branson probably have the most trading power.

Mine are high just because I recently purchased a few with only the intention of renting them, although that might bite me in the end . I unrealistically thought that I could sell/unload them easily after renting pre-paid points.

In either case, they will probably not go to waste. I would rather use them and not get the full value of them. Unlike others who would let good points expire. Better to get something than nothing out of them.

If I cannot trade through RCI than I will probably stick to forums like this and exchange directly with other members or use the smaller exchange companies. Perhaps in a year or two when I unload what I have the investment will be to an RCI resort. I will be much better educated by then!

Ok to clarify then, the resort I am looking at is likely able to be used in either points or I could deposit the week for the TPU's? It is Winners Circle Resort. This is what I have to understand before I buy it, because I only plan to deposit the week not use Points. Thanks!

I'm not that familiar with that resort, but if you only want to use TPU's then you don't have to worry about PFD to RCI Points. I read somewhere that units there get 50 TPU's which is probably more than you'll get with RCI points anyway. With that you certainly could get 2 weeks in a DVC. You probably won't be getting enough RCI points for 2 DVC units but you could check it out and see. It never hurts to have several options with a week.

Here's a link to what RCI points you'd need for DVC:

Winners Circle is an RCI points resort.

Does this mean it has to be used for RCI points or I still have the option of TPU's? Sorry to be such a newbie on this, but when I look at the deposit calculator on RCI it shows the TPU's but I want to be totally sure of what I am buying if we buy....Thanks!

You won't be able to do PFD anyway since it's a points resort so it's a mute point for you unless you convert the week.
