Having discussed it with her, my decorator says her first job was to get rid of the blue but her two assistants talked her out of it, so they worked around it, and made it work.

Interesting how it all started OY. My own history had included being elected to my HOA Board as the candidate of the pro-RCI faction which was trying to prevent a board majority of own-to-use members from severing out ties to RCI. (we succeeded) When I signed up OY, I was someone who always traded, always used RCI, and was a happy camper.
Then came the online moderated chat hosted by Fern OY with an RCI rep on the soon to be rolled out Global Points Network (now called RCI Points). I did not participate, but I read the log, and there were some aspects I expressed doubts about on the boards OY. Then after some further analysis, some of the language, while cleverly not saying it in so many words, clearly could have no other meaning than that RCI was going to start an extensive program of renting to the general public. Soon thereafter a letter to resorts from RCI's CEO arrived, which I posted in its entirety OY, that bolstered that analysis, especially the part about RCI ''taking timeshare to the mass market''.
When I started posting this analysis that RCI was going to start massive rentals to the general public, that is when I became the whipping boy for a small but shrill segment who seem to believe that RCI can do no wrong. Most started out as deniers on the rentals, but as the evidence mounted, they either faded into the woodwork or changed into supporters of the rental program (''it's just a corporation trying to make money, it can do anything it wants''). One or two remained deniers long after the evidence was clear.
Then came the second issue I raised on which the same group pitched a hissy. That was the unfair relationship RCI set up between Weeks and Points in the crossover grids.
What was really interesting was that at the height of some of the worst back-and-forth on these issues OY, the Seasons timeshare chain in Europe announced it was dumping RCI and moving to II, and put out a special issue of its newsletter that explained why. Seasons fired a withering broadside at RCI in that newsletter over the very two issues I had been raising, the rentals to the public and the unfair relationship between Weeks and Points, explaining why both were damaging to timesharing in general and to their members who wanted to exchange in particular. Some members OY who did not normally wade into the discussions commented that the Seasons newsletter sounded like I could have written it. The response was predictable - some of the usual suspects started attacking Seasons.
My position on RCI always been the same. They created the best timeshare exchange system that has ever been created. RCI founder Cystal deHahn was a business genius. However, since Cendent / Wyndham bought it, they have progressively screwed it up, which is a darn shame. Some OY want to insist we always wear out rose colored glasses which discussing RCI, but I prefer to take them off so I can see the whole picture, warts and all. If that offends some people, so be it.
Originally posted by JLB View PostSpeaking of history, and OY, bashing is another thing that seems to stay in style.
When I first started, Carolinian was the head RCI Basher, and there were those who obsessed on his bashing, so bashed him. He hasn't changed much, except that he has been provided a lot more reason.
Others haven't changed much either. As I have become an avid RCI Basher, there are those who choose to bash me.
Whether it's me bashing RCI or folks bashing Steve or me for bashing RCI, it is the same conduct, bashing.
