  • RCI Platinum?

No info about cost or actual benefits without becoming a member on the website. Anyone have any info? I tried to get more info and got "thank you, your application has been sent." To be continued, I guess... sounds a little SFX-ish...

The RCI PlatinumSM membership is designed to help you get even more from your vacation ownership. Enjoy a wide range of exclusive benefits such as Priority Access, opportunities for complimentary unit upgrades, rebates on select RCI transactions, and much more.

See below for details on how you can take advantage of RCI Platinum benefits if you upgrade today.

    Priority Access

With RCI Platinum membership, you can benefit from "Priority Access" exchange privileges at upscale hotels and resorts in high demand locations. This means that you could be among the first in line when it comes to exchanging for sensational accommodations, specially acquired by RCI for RCI Platinum members, in sought-after destinations like Chicago, San Francisco and New York.

Upgrade today to find out what's currently available through Priority Access.

It cost money....maybe $50 per year.

Your combination fee is $25 less so 75ish instead of $99
    Maybe free guest certs?
    $$ off getaways???

It is similar to the Plat program II is pushing...read about it OY.

I just upgraded my points account which also upgrades the "free" weeks account that is linked to it. I got it primarily for the reduced combo fees, & guest cert fees. It gives you free upgrades if available at the last minute and access to "special inventory". I don't really care about that part. So we'll see.

Platinum Member Benefit Highlights and/or Disadvantages to Regular Members

            Spring 2011

Just four months after RCI revolutionized the timeshare industry by unveiling trading power transparency for its RCI® Weeks subscribing members, the global leader in vacation exchange announced its latest plan to further enhance its weeks program: RCI Weeks Platinum(SM) membership, a premium tier of RCI membership that offers exclusive exchange privileges and lifestyle benefits.

Highlights of the new RCI Platinum SM Weeks Membership

The RCI Platinum SM membership is designed to help you get even more from your vacation ownership. Enjoy a wide range of exclusive benefits such as Priority Access, opportunities for complimentary unit upgrades, rebates on select RCI transactions, and much more.

            Priority Access
With RCI Platinum membership, you can benefit from "Priority Access" exchange privileges at upscale hotels and resorts in high demand locations. This means that you could be among the first in line when it comes to exchanging for sensational accommodations, specially acquired by RCI for RCI Platinum members, in sought-after destinations like Chicago, San Francisco and NY.

            Unit Upgrades
RCI Platinum members have the opportunity to receive complimentary unit upgrades if larger units are available within 2 weeks of check-in. And, it’s convenient, as a Platinum member, you’ll just let us know you’re interested and we’ll do the rest, there are no additional fees or Deposit Trading Power required.

            Platinum Rebates
In addition to the expanded exchange options you'll receive as an RCI Platinum member, you can also receive rebates on other RCI transactions. Combine multiple Deposits or Deposit Credits and earn a $25 rebate, give the gift of vacation with an RCI Guest Certificate toward accommodations and earn a $20 USD rebate, or enjoy an Extra Vacations getaway and earn a $25 USD rebate.

As an RCI Platinum member, your rebates are automatically credited back to your RCI Platinum account to use toward future RCI transactions such as exchanges and your annual RCI subscription!

Disadvantages - First in Line - Priority Access

This seems to me to be something simiar to the program I have thru "Travelers Plus" Bluegreens special travel program - you have the "opportunity" to use your points to reserve/exchange at hotels and other properties using your points....generally not a good deal BUT if you have points you are not going to use, etc, it can be worth it.

II also now has a program like this as well.

It's definitely more money for RCI. No question about that.

You have to see if it works for you. If you have a lot of weeks you deposit, and can now combine or you use a lot of guest certs, it might be worthwhile. Otherwise, I would say no as the other benefits are mostly useless in my mind.

So I just booked an EV. I couldn't do it on the phone in conjunction with Platinum upgrade since office was closed, but as I read it, I could get a $25 rebate for the EV, and another $20 toward the Guest Certficate. So my $55 would be rebated in large part. BUT it's rebate, not discount. The rebate would undoubtedly go into my Platinum account, which will surely need to be active in order to use them. So another perpetual fee to RCI to maintain these tidbits. If they'll do it retroactive for the booking I just made, I"ll try it just to shop around the "special" inventory, but I'm not expecting much.

I am interested in hearing if you get more vacations showing as to without it.

For me it's purely if it improves the available inventory or not.

Has anyone gone platinum on weeks and did it make any difference?

                            Thanks!
