  • Can I cancel a deposit request I just made with RCI?

Having RCI closed today doesn't help, since I can't get ahold of anyone "live".

I put in a deposit request yesterday and got an email that it was pending awaiting confirmation from our resort. Now I've found out dh has offered it up to a friend. So I'd like to cancel the deposit. I tried to contact them through the website but kept getting an internal error. I sent an email to the feedback email address I got, but don't know if that will go anywhere. I'll try calling again tomorrow, but didn't know if there was some way online I could cancel it myself.

If it hasn't been taken as a trade, I don't see how it could if it hasn't been verified, you can withdraw your deposit.

I hope that it works out for you. I made that mistake once and called them back immediately but they said no. This is many years ago before the online service so it may be better now. Can you call your resort too and stop it there?

Good idea Emmy. Since I can't contact RCI today, maybe I can stop it at the resort.

Sometimes even if a deposit gets taken you can still withdraw it.

          Just depends.

Just a quick update, if anyone cares...

I called both RCI and Maui Hill. The RCI guide told me they would cancel the deposit request. When I called Maui Hill (much later due to the time difference) I found out they hadn't even done the verifications from the weekend, and they would deny it on their end as well. So, we still have out week. Now watch, dh's friend will end up not wanting to use it.

I was just wondering how you made out.

I say you stand a better chance with dh's friend using it than you would with family.

Maybe. The friend is supposed to let us know in a day or so. My bil, who we first offered it to, never came back with a yes or no.

But, there is something about this week............... I found out that Trading Places Maui accidentally put it into their deposit pool, instead of the 2012 week I specified. Luckily I caught it (by looking at their list of available weeks) and they got it fixed. They did send me a confirmaiton letter showing 2011, but I didn't catch that. But they did admit it was their mistake.
