This is a good point...i believe Vacation Village has been reduced since being talked about at length....But i'm not sure about other locations...they just switch to TPU's a little while ago, so a little eb and flow is natural....The situation, as it appear to me with Vacation Village wasn't so much that people were pointing out WHAT the point level was...it was them pointing out that it was Extremely(In there opinion) over pointed because of it being in an overbuilt area and not being that nice....

I think if we stay away from the bashing of resorts...and leave our opinions at the door by just posting the facts...i.e. resort name, TPU level...we should be fine...RCI Points are publicly available...why NOT tpu's?

        Way before your time

we found out that a $200 South Africa week would pull almost anything that RCI had, the annual fees were around $65, so it was a tiger trader.

Well, as that information was shared, more and more people bought SA traders, and more and more people talked about it.

At one time I had 14 SA weeks.
When RCI 1st came out with their points side, they accepted these same grass shacks for between 27500 and 45000 annual points, back then there were no limits to the number of weeks you could points For deposit, there were also no limits on how many points you could use for partner purchases.

In 1 year, my wife and I and daughter and 3 grand kids all flew to Hawaii ( air tickets(, and Orlando ( Air Tickets) , and got 7 day non expiring Disney passes with water parks and more, using points from our grass shacks that annual fees were under $1200.

Well, today the SA weeks get about 12 TPU and the annual fees are around $250. You can only deposit 2 pfd weeks per point account, and you can only use 25% of your basic ownerships annual points for points partners.

My point is that by creating a Good Buy list, we will be shooting ourselves in the foot, as the more that buy them the less value they will have.
These types discussion will draw unwanted readers and unwanted results.

        Fwiw,

        Greg

(summed it up to the main points, hope its ok)

Wow...this is a really good point, it makes me sad that sharing does end up hurting everyone in this case...but still is a great point...thank you Greg!

            They're not so public.
You have to have an account to even be able to calculate the TPU's. That makes these numbers valuable to those who don't readily have access to this info. Why share with total strangers and create competition for yourself.

I still think if we have a big enough list...over 100+ resorts which give over 100 TPU a week...it will have enough diversity(some on the beach, some in the mountains, some in florida some in vermont) the competition won't be so great...it won't be everyone jumping on one resort or one area, like what happened in south africa, but everyone able to get what they want in the areas they want...and get the best of it....

Looks like i did have a pretty good counter point

The concept is still in the discussion stage...give it time! We still need to talk about how its going to be framed, discuss what section it should be in...and the merits of it being a sticky and who should maintain that sticky...nothing that will end up being this large of an undertaking should be moved on too quickly...don't forget one or two resorts posted suffers the same fate as has been mentioned in this thread....we need to get a BIG list started before it goes public...theres a VERY important reason the list hasn't been posted publicly yet...its just not long enough yet

Good to see so many people are interested by you posting the views though Glitter!

                              Thank You!
