  • New RCI Fees announced

The new Domestic fee for weeks exchange will be $164! (corrected from original post)If I didn't like weeks before now I really have a reason to avoid them.

    Grrrrr

Does this mean international is going up to $199?

Not that it matters as I can't find an acceptable exchange anyway.

Can you provide a link? The fees have not been changed on the website:

      International $199

I stand corrected. When I took a closer look the domestic fee is $164, International $199 and cancelation fee $119!

There is no link yet. This was a letter to Affiliates. New prices effective 9/10/06.

Another way that RCI can influence Points package purchases. Exchanges are still $99 for Points, as far as I know, even with international exchanges.

I'm with you. It is time to start looking to sell those weeks that I can not use or trade with the other exchange companys. I hope that by next year I get rid of at least 6 of my 14 weeks that I own.

We can add this to this list of reasons in the How Do You Say NO thread... (at least for RCI only resorts...)

Well since they have less inventory and are making less exchanges I guess they had to find the money somewhere...

I wonder, since this is effective in September, if they are going to charge me more IF they find me a match after that date or because the search has been in-place for so-long that I get to keep the $10 or $15.

If I remember correctly they grandfathered on-goings the last time they gave themselves a rate hike. So it will probably pay to get all your searches in before then if possible.

                  Lawren,
I believe if you have an ongoing search in place, you pay the fee that was charged at the time you placed the search ($149). Good way to get around the new fee could be to place ongoing searches on all your banked weeks. That's IF you don't mind having your money tied up by RCI.

This just makes owning in mini-systems that much more attractive.

Find a mini that has resorts in places you want to visit, and reserve directly without paying any exchange fee.

When you want to visit an area your mini doesn't serve, do a direct exchange or rent. [added note]: or use an independent, as we have generally done for half our trades for the last several years.

                    ****

Just say no to exchange fees.

Start a F.A.R.E. Program at your resort. Fee Awareness and Resistance Education.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

                    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

I'm in the process of buying a Fairfield point package at Ft. Lauderdale Palm-Aire which is one of the Fairfield resorts that will exchange with SFX. If I ARP the week, I will have almost 3 years to do the exchange.

RCI keeps inching up their fees for week exchanges closer and closer to their Last Call weeks and One on One weeks.

The RCI points fees will probably be next. Look out!

It looks like the stand alone separation from the Cendent groups is having RCI look at how to make more money.

It also influences members to just rent and forget about owning and exchanging! It will also influence RCI exchangers to look into the independent exchange companies. Exchanges are $99 or less at DAE, HTSE, Platinum, and SFX, and you don't have to put up with the point hassles, or for three of them even have to pay yearly membership fees.

Wow! This just sucks! Most of our resorts are either dual affiliated or are accepted by the independents. Part of that is by design and part by luck . I hadn't got an II membership yet as we've been using RCI or some of the independents this will definitely make me take a look at II.

I can definitely see II sightings going up and RCI dropping significantly.

Knowing RCI, they'll probably do the same thing on annoucing these increases the same way they did with PFD i.e. by not annoucing and just implementing

We haven't been RCI members for long. This is a 10% increase in fees, which seems fairly high. I know they've increased fees over the last couple years but can someone give a rundown of how much they've increased over the last 2 or 3 years?

Overheard at the Country Kitchen in wisconsin Dells while paying my bill: someone on a cell phone saying "I just bought a timeshare. i can go anywhere in the United States and overseas and it doesn't cost me anything. " I can also this is when my husband asked me why I was laughing and I didn't hear the rest of the perks of owning a timeshare.
