These are prices available ONLY to TS owners WITHIN RCI right?

Good to know RCI is on the side of TS Owners

Wow, good point, would cost almost as much to deposit your week and exchange into this property. Why bother giving them your week when you can pay a little more to rent?

Just another reason to only buy where you want to go.

My point (obviously) was why own and have a $625 annual fee (for example).

I think there's an owning v. renting thread around here somewhere.

Acutally, now that I look more, here is a week we used to own:

          2 Bedrooms 6 (6) Full Sat 10-Dec-2011 Sat 17-Dec-2011 On Sale USD 249.47

and here is a week we still own:

          2 Bedrooms 8 (8) Full Sun 11-Mar-2012 Sun 18-Mar-2012 On Sale USD 249.47

          same resort,

and this year's fee was $625.

          sad

True you would have to be a subscription member of RCI to use the rental service through them. Not so sure you would have to own a TS. I sold my RCI affiliated property and was still on the RCI member rolls as long as subscription was current.

But these RCI rentals are also available through other market portals, such as Airline Tickets, Cheap Hotels, Vacation Packages & Travel Deals (select: VACATION RENTALS - BUY NOW OR AUCTIONS STARTING AT $1)

At much higher rates....if you look beyond the thousands of dollars people HAVE to pay to get out of their TS's....on a strictly vacation by vacation cost...its much cheaper to own

I'm not a fan of the lie that its cheaper to rent then own....even including the RCI Membership fee ($89) and the Exchange fees ($179)

WITH MY Fixed week Wyndham ownership:
If i only use it for the one week in my TS it costs me about $111 a day
2 weeks total Depositing both sides in RCI(26 TPU's each) $88 a day
2 weeks total depositing one side(using the other) $75 a day
3 weeks total(2 weeks exchange(13 TPU each) one week in my TS) is $58 a day
              4 weeks total (4 weeks exchange(13 TPU each)) is $57 a day
              5 weeks total (5 weeks exchange(10 TPU each)) is $51 a day
6 weeks total is harder but not impossible(8-9 TPU each) is $47 a day

Now please let me know where you can find for rent 28-35 days of vacation a year for an average of $51 - $57 a day and Mostly, if not all in 2br places

On that site, but there are lots of RCI rental to the public sites. There are periodic examples of people looking at those rental to the public sites and finding cheaper rental prices than availible to RCI members. That does not always happen, but it happens too much.

No, you don't have to own a timeshare to be an RCI member, or to get unlimited access to everything but exchanges.

                        Old news.

Do you not have to own a Timeshare....or do they just let you keep your membership after you sell it?

Theres a BIG difference there..JLB, you have to work at McDonalds to have that uniform that you own...But they do let you keep it afterwards....i couldn't get one, because i've never worked at McDonalds

So, as a timeshare owner/RCI subscriber, I pay $625 in annual fees to my resort and more fees to belong to RCI, which gives me these options:

                            1. Use the week ourselves.

                            2. Give it to RCI, hoping it will go to another timeshare owner, and they rent it to anyone for $225-ish, because that is more than an exchange fee. If I have two of them or three them deposited, I could get what I used to get before 11/16/10, but it would cost me about $2000 for one exchange.

                            3. Try to rent it, hoping to get our $625, and compete with RCI at $225. (I normally get $300, or nothing.)

Even the most prolific, short-sighted RCI-Lovers should be able to understand why some of us really, really, really old and formerly loyal RCI members have grown to despise them.

Steve is right, and has been for more than 10 years, that it is a conflict of interest for an exchange company to also do rentals . . . and there was a time when our federal government looked for exactly that type of unfair corporate conduct, and put an end to it.

                            Google

You have to admit that fear of the American government prosecuting is not something American companies worry about. Their decisions are more about how many people do they have to screw to get another dollar.
