Tons of phantoms

With I.I. moving towards a points/weeks divided system such as RCI's, it may not be long before I see no value with I.I. and drop them, just like I dropped RCI a couple of years ago. Phantom weeks would irritate me to no end and leave me distrusting of any exchange company that has that issue. It seems that RCI has little desire to fix the computer "glitch" that causes phantom weeks to show. If I.I. walks the same path, I forsee them comingling inventory and getting heavier into the rental market vs the exchange buisness.

I feel fortunate in that all but two of our timeshares are in good to strong internal exchange programs. I don't feel reliant upon either RCI or I.I. to get the exchanges/reservations I desire.

Sorry for the newbie question. What is a phantom week?

A phantom is a week that shows up when searching online in RCI, but when you try to click on it you get an error message - it's the ghost of a good week that isn't really there.
