Of course, RCI tried to tell members for a long time that a lot of their rental inventory was not made up of exchange deposits, but ultimately had to eat their words on that. Given the history, why should anyone take them at their word on anything on their rentals?

So I guess you are the self appointed BBS police and we can only post what you like.

Didn't you get that memo? I have always been the BBS police here. However People can post whatever they'd like. I am just stating that in 48 Manhattan Club threads you have said the same thing no matter why this property has been brought up for whatever comparison reasons. If there was an office pool on how long it would take you once Steve posted his observations I would have won.

I bring it up so people can have more information to make a comparison. If they don't like what I say, so be it. There are many people that think that the Manhattan Club is the only timeshare in NYC. Many people also believe that RCI is the only way to get an exchange in NYC. I think that everybody should know what all the options are.

There are a lot of people that read threads looking for info but don't comment.

I'm aware of their history, and I'm not taking them at their word - this is also my own observation, since I sprung for the Platinum membership. None of the (few) places available thru Platinum membership at this point are timeshares; none of these are resorts for which RCI members can bank deposits.

So they can't be member deposits. Maybe this will change at some point, but their assertion is correct at the present.

Not that I'm defending RCI but I'd much rather go to New York at this point in time than London.

Maybe that has something to do with it? Maybe I'm not alone.

And in case you're wondering, I've been to London three times, so it's not that I'm ignorant of the place, just don't want to go now. Of course that might change with the world climate but I'm very happy exchanging in the good ol USA and maybe Canada for right now.

Well, it is clear from the availibility at RCI, that while you might not be alone, you are not the typical timesharer. There is pleny of New York avabilility all seasons of the year, but London is never online. If RCI puts any in the exchange bank instead of shunting it directly to rentals, then it gets snapped up by one of the many ongoing searches out there. That is the acid test in timesharing, not the pronouncements of one or another individual member of what they personally want more.

RCI itself has admitted that London is the place in the timeshare world with the most demand and least supply. For HOA board members and resort staff, RCI has something called the VIP program, In it they make any deposit availible for a VIP exchange and the VIP member only has to give back a week of the same color season and size. Trading power, VEP, and every other aspect of trading are waived. In the entire world, there is only one place that VIP members are not allowed to trade into because of its extremely high demand and extremely low supply. That place is London. And that rule has been in place long before the Olympics.
