  • Another Little Glitch

When I search for January, 2013, one of the choices I see says:

Units that meet your criteria Total Units Available: 1
    Unit Type Max Occup
(Privacy) Kitchen Check-In Date Check-Out Date Price Exchange Trading Power

    2 Bedrooms 6 (4) Full Sat 05-Jan-2013 Sat 12-Jan-2013 Exchange Fee 18

But when I select it, it says:

No eligible deposits available at this time

    which is correct.

I guess I don't understand , or disagree, with that terminology.

The requested exchange is there and could be obtained by extending the deposit or combining it with credits.

        Jim,

It would help if you gave all the information. You make it sound like a phantom, but then tell us you have a deposit. If the deposit you have does not give the number of TPU required then the "non eligible error makes sense". I get the same through the portals when I do not have enough points.

I agree. With the additional information I don't see what the 'glitch' is. Not having what it takes to get a specific exchange (membership, TPUs, etc.) is not a glitch.

That would be no fun , but . . .

            here's the way I see it . . .

The exchange was there because, well, first, I just knew it was there because after searching a bajillion times I have sorta a feel for what should and should not be there, plus . . .

My buddy took it last night.

It should not have fallen into the category of "units that fit my criteria" because the deposit that was seeing it expires before that week. Credits that expire later were not enough to get it. So, when I selected to take it, I could not, because it did not fit into my criteria.

If, however, I combined the credits with the deposit, I could get it because that would extend that deposit, but since I had not combined, that was not the criteria I was searching with.

There, that sounds so much better . . . with more information.

So it is not really a "glitch" but an interpretation of how you think things should work. Just cause it does not work the way you want it to does not make it wrong.

Unless your filter criteria allows you to filter by the number of points or TPU you have available, then it does meet whatever criteria you have specified.

If you can specify "don't show me anything more then my availble TPU's" and it then shows you stuff then that would be a glitch.

It does look though like what ever system you are using, is different them mine. When I do a search say for a particular resort or area, it will show me a list of available units and the point values for each. If I have enough points, it will be highlighted, if not it is a different color and when I highlight it clearly says "unavailable".

Yeah, that's right, things that don't work the way I think they ought to are glitches.

&, everything at RCI and RCI.com makes sense and runs like a well-oiled machine.

                Have a nice day.

It is not a glitch that RCI deliberately overpoints some weeks, particularly those in resorts still in sales and those in oversupply in the system and deliberately underpoints others, particularly is sold out resorts and in rare, hard to get times and places. That is not by accident. Part of it is pandering to some developers and part of it is covering for RCI's rentals operations of exchange deposits. RCI's numbers all too frequently stand supply and demand factors on their head.

In this case, it was a week in a 50 year old converted motel that was developed 30 years ago.

But, still, it is not a glitch; it is me.
